The age range starts at 6 according to the box, but that might actually be a little too young given how tiny the pieces are and in general harder to snap together than we were used to (if you&rsquo;ve only done lego, you will feel a difference). Sorting the pieces in advance was a good strategy for finding the correct pieces throughout the build, and the picture instructions were clear enough to follow. Although &ldquo;small&rdquo; at about 5&rdquo; tall when complete, it actually takes a while to put together, which I appreciate for the build value, but at times was frustrating for my 8yo who needed a bit of help and a second set of eyes to double check a few parts/steps. Once it&rsquo;s together, Pikachu stands on his own and can be put in a few different poses. It&rsquo;s very cute and well done and would be a nice gift for any Pok&eacute;mon fan. With other characters available like Charmander and Mew, they definitely seem collectible for display. From that aspect, I likely see myself getting more of these for adults who are fans, too. We decided to do it together. She had some trouble trying to get some pieces together. When I tried to put them together it was hard for me to assemble it too, specially the little parts. Instructions were very helpful, showing which one was the correct pieces vs incorrect piece, since there were a few extremely similar. They were compatible with our legos. There were extra (actually a few) which made me rethink if I did it right, but it was nice to know there were some extra. It took us 3 days to do it in average of 1hr per day. I did most of it. This was particularly important because pieces are bagged according to size and function rather than in build order, helping builders to understand the engineering behind what they're building -- and a true feat it was, allowing our young builder to bring Pikachu to life with several points of articulation. My 7 and 12 year old had a lot of fun building it. It was not too difficult to build and once completed, it is surprisingly durable. I was nervous that pieces would easily come off, but that is not the case! This toy is constantly passed around between all 3 of my kids, and it has yet to come apart. It is the perfect size, too. Any larger and it would surely get dropped, any smaller and my kids would have been disappointed. The only issue we had was that the instructions that were included were for the Charmander set. Luckily, we were able to download the correct instructions from the Mattel website. As a ten-year-old who has a lot of experience with these types of sets, he was able to independently complete the build in about an hour and a half. I was called in twice when he made the mistake of inserting one of the tiniest pieces the wrong way, and I had a really difficult time removing it. The second time this happened the piece snapped, but fortunately the set included extras so we had a back-up. Overall, I found the directions to be very clear and easy to follow. I wish that the individual bags were numbered in order of use, but they were not. It would make it much easier to find the piece you need, since all the pieces are the same color. The figure is super solid once completed and I think it would be difficult to take apart to rebuild. My son said he would be leaving Pikachu together as a display piece on his desk.
