The lid was on it. So my grandson could not play in it anymore. Had to return it. This new design is not a good one. Not like the old sandboxes. Very disappointed.</span>

<span itemprop="description">I grew up with the old school turtle sandbox and I loved it as a kid. I decided to pick this one up for my kid & it resulted in loss of sanity, 1 hour of assembly, and my kid running out into the road twice. This thing is a nightmare to assemble. I read the instructions. I watched the video. I’m convinced that the person who designed this new style doesn’t have children, has never seen a child, has never seen a children’s toy, & has no concept of how a sandbox works. A once simple 2 piece design now turned into the equivalent of assembling at 700 piece LEGO Millennium Falcon set, but from Temu, so the pieces don’t line up. Four quadrants make up the bottom, with one screw on the rim for each piece and the rest of the seam are allegedly clip in pieces. They don’t line up properly, they definitely don’t stay clipped in. The head is a cheap 2 piece that you have to just loosely hang on the edge of the sandbox. The lid was a little more secure than the bottom, which is wild to me since the weight of sand sits in the bottom, not the top. After an hour and a meltdown, I finally get the thing somewhat together to find out it’s like half the size they use to be. If I would’ve know all of this ahead of time, I would’ve just bought an old school one off of someone locally for half the price.</span>

<span itemprop="description">I have a sandbox that I bought for my 4 year old and LOVE. It’s heavy duty, like the one I had growing up, and can be used for sand or water. I’m in Texas and bought a second for my 1 year old to use with water, thinking the cover would be great to keep mosquitoes out. I was unpleasantly surprised to find that it had been ‘improved’. I really wanted to still like it but got more and more upset as the assembly progressed. Cheap plastic that does NOT easily ’click in to place’ as advertised. Even when screwed together, the tabs come apart. If the sandbox is going to cost more, it needs to be the same quality or better. This is terrible. Little Tikes should be embarrassed to sell so disappointing! I returned mine the same day and will be trying to find a solid one. Ridiculous!</span>

Even if you can get them to snap they come apart. The base and the lid are 2 different shades of green. So... it just looks cheap. But It is holding together enough that it will hold some sand. My Grandboys will love it. We'll see if it holds up.</span>

I am very disappointed with the new style of sandbox and believe that anyone that likes this sandbox just doesn't know any better. I was so excited to get a new one for my younger children, but they are not getting the same experience. Would love for Little Tikes to have a change of heart and make the old model again.</span>

<span itemprop="description">We went to our local store after the older version of this product as it was featured in the flyer on sale. Upon arriving to the store, they said they only carry this 2.0 version that is $30 more. This "improved" version isn't a solid piece like the original and required a lot of time to put together. The bottom pieces do not "snap" together per the instructions booklet and the plastic is already showing some signs of stress. We are quite disappointed in Toys R Us for advertising a product that no longer exists and disappointed in Little Tikes for downgrading a popular item and making it significantly more expensive.</span>

<span itemprop="description">It is so sad that things are not made like they used to be. This box is Ok Not that great at putting it together and it’s so much smaller than the old solid one piece one. It is ok for our yard (grandparents) but not for long when more grandchildren arrive and definitely not for families. So sad.</span>

I remember playing with these sandboxes in the 90’s. We love Little Tikes products, so here’s another one to add to our list! It’s durable and easy to assemble. I love that the lid connects to the sandbox so if the wind blows it won’t blow away.</span>

<span itemprop="description">The printed instructions and the video showed how easily the sandbox goes together. In reality, it was difficult. The base kept pulling apart with each addition. It also had 4 less screws than the lid which fell into place nicely with 8 screws. The snap-in components do not stay snapped on the base. I liked that it is smaller than the original and the overall design is cute. The engineering of the base to be more study needs to be done.</span>

<span itemprop="description">[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This model of the classic turtle sandbox was different! It is not a solid base but rather, 4 identical pieces that fit together well. The lid also came in 4 sections and the head attaches to the base. It came in a smaller box which is great for shipping and I’m sure it makes warehouse storage and store shelving easier too. Putting it together was fairly easy, if not a little tricky to get right the first time. But I easily got it put together in about 20-25 minutes. We bought two bags of sand and some sand toys for my 3 year old and he played all day in it!</span>
