Covered in suede it is soft to the touch for little hands to treasure. You press the button on the front and it records your voice then repeats your message in a bird like voice. There is an on and off switch on the bottom. When it is on it doesn&rsquo;t necessarily make noise all the time. You activate it by touching or &ldquo;petting&rdquo; the back. It makes a few different chirps and tweets a little tune after petting it a few times. It wiggles its head side to side and the mouth opens a little at times. When you press the button in the front it will record sound for up to 10 seconds. She loves it. It mimics back what she says, kinda. It doesn't quite understand her I think. But she loves that it talks to her. It's a hard body covered with a fuzzy feeling material. I haven't heard it make noise on its own, just when she's playing with it. Has already taken some falls and lived through it. So durability doesn't seem to be an issue. The bird cage has a swing to perch Polly on. Polly can record your voice and repeat back what you say and also reacts to your touch. The more you pet Polly the more she sings, makes over 20 sounds and her wings light up. My 5 year old daughter has played for hours with her new bird and cage.
