His vision teacher said a black background with bright or shiny yellow color would be the most that he could see. So I made a simple picture and turned off the lights in the classroom. He usually just shuts his eyes in the brightly lit classroom, but when the lights went out and only the colorful lite brite was on, he slowly opened his eyes and stared at the screen for a few minutes. Now as a grandmother of three I have given this new Lite Brite to each grandchild and have one at my house for sleepover fun. As a teaching tool children can learn colors, and it helps them with finger dexterity getting the pegs in the holes. Learning to follow a pattern when using the designed sheets that come with the set. Last but not least using their own creativity to create their own design. Love that the pre designed can be reused. Would like a larger selection of pre designed sheets.</span>

<span itemprop="description">I purchased the Lite Brite Magic Screen for my 5 yr old granddaughter because I had a Lite Brite as a child and LOVED it! This is definitely NOT the same product that I had and my kids had. It is very cheaply made, wayyy smaller than the one I had, and is battery operated. I had to exchange it because it was missing the templates. The screen was very small, so you're very limited as to what you can design. The light was so dim my granddaughter went into a dark closet to play with it so she could enjoy the lights. So disappointing!</span>

Also there are just enough pegs to complete a sheet so if you lose one you can't complete the picture. There is also no place to store the paper designs.</span>

The one we grew up with plugged in, stood on its own, and had all the little pegs which was nice. This one takes batteries, is much smaller, and has pegs as well.
