There are different shapes that all have a fruit name and a picture on each. It is easy to open hinged door and pull out all the shapes. Once a shape is in hand then it&rsquo;s very easy to push down on stem and this rotates the shapes. Your child then pushes the shape through the hole that fits. It&rsquo;s very easy and educational as well. It&rsquo;s very easy to pick whole apple up by the stem. It also has a very cute face on front with eyes and a mouth. Just push down the apples stems to rotate and make a new shape, until it makes the shape you&rsquo;re looking for. It has a little door that opens to get the shapes out. It says it is 85% reclaimed plastic which is so good for the environment. It has 10 different shapes. This toy offers sensory, and fine motor skills and hours imaginative play. It is kid and mother approved. The apples stem pushes down to make the apple spin in a fun and entertaining way but also to allow the unique shapes to be sorted into their proper shape holes. In the back of the apple a small door is installed so you can easily remove the shapes after sorting for more shape fun. You push the center button which spins the top half, creating new shapes to sort by. Practically, even my 3 year old had difficulty with figuring out how to find the right shape hole. The toy is geared for 18m+ and I can assure you that an 18 month old cannot figure this out. The pieces are very cute though as well as the apple sorter. Another issue we had with this toy is that the door to store the pieces inside kept falling off. As a young toddler, it is hard to hold his attend for long periods of time but this sorter kept him busy for a while! When he spins the top, the shapes change and he has to figure out what pieces would fit in the newly made shapes. It is such a fun take on a classic toy. The colors are bright and the pieces themselves are easy to hold. I love the little pictures on each shape as well - it provides additional learning opportunities for my son. It is relatively compact which allows us to take this around with us everywhere!
