It comes with a multitude of preloaded slides of food, anatomy, nature etc as well as a neat empty slide to check out organisms by yourself. This microscope also comes with games, which my smaller kids are loving whilst brain building, identifying microorganisms and so on. I also have a 3 year old who decided to throw this onto a hard floor and WOW, it's way more robust than you would expect as it left barely a mark with no repercussions to the electronics. Kids don't realize they are learning while using it. I love that it comes with smart slides that allow the children to see some things they may not easily be able to get their hands on. It also allows you to collect your own samples and let me tell you, your kid will have fun looking at everything they can think of. I can not keep up with the amount of stuff we have looked at daily, it's amazing. This microscope goes up from 50x to 200x it's really powerful and not something I would expect for a children's toy. The entire thing is a hard durable plastic and made to hold up to your not-so-gentle child. It's perfect really and the microscope magnifies&nbsp;on par with a high-quality microscope. It does have an internal memory that holds about 100 photos but you can easily add a 32GB MicroSD card to expand the memory. The screen plays video in addition to showing microscope like images on the screen. The side knobs rotate to work like a microscope in zooming in and looking at things in more detail. The slides themselves I think have chips in them to indicate what it is, and the images are not real microscope viewing but are known video images of what it would look like under a real microscope. This allows for even more interaction as kids can get videos on the subject and play games to teach them even more. This practices my child to use a microscope and amazes them when they zoom into real objects or the smart slides. There are also little signs that you can uncover interesting facts when using the smart slides. There are quizes to test your knowledge, games so you can learn while having fun, and smart slides or put real stuff under so you can see what it looks like zoomed in.
