He absolutely loved it, and was sooooooo excited to receive it. It is a deceptively detailed set with quite a lot of pieces. The electronic Luigi talks and his eyes move as well as a small screen in his chest changes depending on where he is placed. My son loved to change this just using colours of things around the house as well as part of the game that the set turns into.
It took him about an hour to build from start to finish, and he found it fun to use his phone as the instruction book. He did get a little frustrated with the way the instructions went back and forwards, but that was his only complaint.
The set can be configured to the players imagination, so they can design their own Mario levels which the Luigi character collects coins as he would in the video game. This does prologue the longevity along with increasing the course using other sets in the collection. I do however feel that there is not much challenge to the game side of things, so think that the novelty will wear off quite quickly.
The set is typically well designed and manufactured as you would expect from Lego. It is 5 out of 5 from my son, but a more restrained 3 out of 5 for me, as I felt the set is quite expensive (understandable considering the technology involved) and that there is not much beyond the initial build to keep the builder coming back for more. So based on this it earns a respectable 4 out 5.</span>
