Overall, I really enjoyed this set and the hidden Easter eggs throughout. You can tell the designers put a lot of thought into how the build could satisfy the fans and still make it fun for play. There are two hangups that really make it hard to give it a full 5 stars. 1. The amount of minifigs is good for the set, but they are similar (if not exactly the same) as minifigs released in other sets earlier this year. With many iconic X-Men characters, even if you pull the ones from X-Men &lsquo;97 that could&rsquo;ve filled the roster. 2. The scale of the mansion, for the price I was thinking it would be closer to the scale of the Home Alone House. I was a little bummed with the scale since it&rsquo;s been a long awaited set for me, but I&rsquo;m glad it has finally been created. I can only hope this spawns more iconic X-Men themed sets! Well my excitement diminished quickly when the set arrived and upon picking it up I couldn&rsquo;t help but notice how light it was. Upon building the set I noticed that the rooms within the mansion are so small that 1 minifigure barely fits in each room and considering it only has 5 rooms total, several of the x-men are gonna be homeless if this is where they are living. This is not the X-mansion, where are the underground levels? Where are all of the dorm rooms? What is there is a bunch of rooms jammed into 1 room, cerebro is a flip out screen that blocks a doorway, the sentinel is a weak attempt and for some reason the basketball hoop is next to the dumpsters, I very much remember the mansion having basketball courts and professors X&rsquo;s hover chair doesn&rsquo;t even fit inside. A few years ago someone submitted an xmansion to Lego ideas and it was phenomenal the amount of detail this person put into it, this set is a sad attempt and not to mention they clearly stole the idea . When building the left wing &quot;book 2&quot;, my only critique is that the instructions only gave us the option to build the wall as damaged, but wished it also showed us how to build the wall as complete instead of referencing book three for the right wing. Another issue I had with this set is that while assembling the pieces in 3, I had two missing grill pieces for the lawn I had to scavenge from Logan's bike. thank goodness we can order missing / broken parts. Except for these two minor issues, my last gripe I have is like with the Daily Bugle, Avenger's tower and the Sanctum, we are given 1 X 1 stud bricks for the clear pieces the figures stand on to jump, fly etc. my only gripe is that regular stud bricks were added for those who wanted a realistic look instead of having a battle scene. While some of the bikes can be covered up, others can't, sticking out. The mini figures were somewhat interesting in that Gambit, Iceman, and Bishop are all original and unique to this set but the remaining Minifigures are not unique and are the exact same or downgrades from other previous cheaper sets or CMF. Overall while the build has interesting sections, the mansion itself is pretty plain and uses some very common pieces in normal colors. The use of common and already readily available pieces makes you question the price and what it is exactly you are paying this high price for. The price is extremely high for a set that is surprisingly small, it only has 3 truly unique minifigures out of 10, and the overall build of the mansion is ok, slowed by constant stickers, and with various small often unusable rooms.
