So nice to see a set based on sonic the hedgehog after the great character pack for LEGO Dimensions in 2016.. The Sonic minifig has received a nice upgrade with better colours, added side detail on the legs, along with other changes to the printing which bring the look of the character closer to his 90's counterpart. Also featuring great building techniques for the brick-built characters with great detail while still keeping at minifig scale.. Green Hill Zone was captured perfectly in this build, with good use of prints on the grass tiles and stickers for the iconic loop.. also with a fun play feature with a working spring to send sonic flying sky-high. Along with the added ability to mix and match the order of the level with modular pieces, it's top-notch. It is fun, and the sonic character is an amazing figure that I love in my collection. It is also a great display piece. This set was a little repetitive, which I don't like when LEGO sets are repetitive, but it wasn't that bad to build anyway. What I don't get is why this set was 18+?! I felt the same way about 123 Sesame Street and some other sets I bought that were 18+. I felt like a 10 year old could build these sets so why are the age recommendations so high? I understand that you want to get adults back into LEGO but I feel like you will lose your business to parents who think the set is too hard for their kids. Anyways, I would recommend this set since it is a fun build and the end product is beautiful. Thanks LEGO! It truly catches the original Sonic Green hill zone. The only thing that you may be a little disappointed with is the build it is not at all challenging and a little repetitive. But I still truly believe that it is worth it just due to how good the end result is. I will be recommending this set to friends. So what are you waiting for go get a set or 2. Lego Sonic is something I've always dreamed of and although wee had that wish granted 6 years ago, it wasn't to the same level as this. First of all, I have to give special compliments to the graphic design team. The instructions really made it feel like you weren't just building a set but playing a level as well. I love how the set progresses from building Sonic on page 1 all the way to building Robotnik on the last. It really made the experience feel special, especially with the adorable progress bar and I have to congradulate the inclusion. As for the set itself, I don't mind changing Toastergrl's original submissions because the end result feels a lot more like Lego. With its blocky hexagon terrain and 2D aesthetic, a classic video game level, especially one based off of Sonic the Hedgehog, felt perfect for Lego but it wasn't realized until now (The NES set was too direct of an adapation) and it looks beautiful. What isn't beautiful though is big fat and ugly. Those three words perfectly describe Robotnik but not like this. I'm not a designer but why oh why did they decide this was the best result. Using a 1x1 corner tile for the nose looks terrible. The gap between the head is horrible and sticks out like a sore thumb. I tried replacing it with a 1x1 plate but it makes the head unstable and still doesn't look right. The only other option was to make a new mold for the head. I don't know why they didn't because the no new mold rule was broken for a while now. This almost ruins the set for me. Although I'm happy with the end result, I was a bit disappointed to hear that this would only be based on Sonic 1, no Tails or Knuckles so I was really hoping the one new character would be at the very least good. It's not. It's borderline bad. And it sucks because unless this set's sell well, this could be the only new one for a while. So, uh, yeah. If you're like me, just pretend this Eggman doesn't exist and think about the main centerpiece. Because OHMYGOD IT'S AMAZING AND I IMPLORE YOU TO BUY ONE NOW. Buy two if you have to! It's well well WELL worth the price and it warms my heart seeing it on my desk. Also side note: please add a draft option for the reviews.
