However, the checkerboard 1x1&rsquo;s are extremely monotonous to build, don&rsquo;t have extras (so you really don&rsquo;t want to lose them!) and the items that should have been printed have stickers instead&hellip; which makes the whole set feel cheap&mdash;there are no extra stickers of each in case you mess one up. Also, as mentioned in other reviews, Eggman just doesn&rsquo;t look right. It&rsquo;s his nose and general low count of pieces. It doesn&rsquo;t feel like he was translated 1-to-1. It&rsquo;s a shame, because his face is the only uncanny part. It's an excellent recreation of the 2D Sonic level with the iconic colour pallet, loop, tree and power up boxes. The disappointing part of the set is how many stickers it uses which upset me for an Ideas set, but even so it's fantastic for display, especially for a fan of Sonic. The Chaos Emeralds included along with a stand for Sonic and even the first boss from Green Hill Zone is a brilliant addition to the set. I'm not upset about only having 1 minifig since being based off the original sonic game, Tails was not introduced until sonic 2 and knuckles in sonic 3. Plus you get 2 enemies and Dr robotnik which are more fitting for the build, I do wish robotnik was a minifig with a better proportioned egg mobile. I was thinking of future set ideas, characters we could get, as well as awesome new pieces. We all know this is an Ideas set and the original idea was based on 2017's Sonic Mania, which starts you off with three separate playable characters, being Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. Knowing that last year was the 30th anniversary of the character and that we're getting another movie for him this year, I was looking forward to the possibility of new molds for Sonic's companions, but unfortunately that didn't happen. Honestly my biggest issue with the set is the way it ultimately turned out. The original idea and what I voted for was Sonic Mania, and I'm not trying to seem ungrateful or anything, but this just isn't Sonic Mania. This is the first game... about 26 years off, guys. This doesn't mean I am displeased with the set however. The builds, when not tedious, are absolutely awesome, the character selection (for the fact that it's based on the first game) isn't bad, and its a great display piece. I'm also happy that this was an 18+ set, meaning it's more so focused on effective builds than generic play features, which only apply when necessary. The two technic pins at the end of the build also get me, as well as many others excited about future Sonic themed sets. PLEASE MAKE THE NEXT ONE CHAMICAL PLANT ZONE WITH TAILS! (And Sonic with a new expression) Anyways, my general rundown, Great set, fun builds, and endless possibilities for the future. A great set to commemorate the blue blur's antics. Fairly easy to build( my 10 year old son basically did it by himself with minimal help) with patience. The result is a highly displayable set that anyone can instantly recognize and discuss. I love the way Sonic&rsquo;s Lego character looks and Robotnik&rsquo;s character was also pretty neat because it was immersive and you actually got to build up his character. Overall, I love the set. Rated it 4 stars because I wish it was a bit bigger and more challenging.
