The strings, though, were somewhat tricky and you really had to look at the instructions to get the placement correct so that they rest in the right place on the neck. The choice of being able to build the Strat in red or black is nice, but is a double edged sword. Having the choice is great, but having two bags worth of useless extra parts is bad. Sadly despite the 18+ build guidance, I found that constructing the Fender guitar offered very little surprise or testing techniques, putting it together in a couple of hours. Also for the high cost it perhaps should include more refined details, maybe more chrome/silver pieces for the bridge, volume/tone knobs etc and black, oval pick-ups would be nice? As a plus though, my friends all agree that the Fender amplifier looks A1! You really gotta look and check what your doing, I feel the images in the book could be so much more helpful on some of the construction because they were at the wrong angle thus causing the problems.
