I have to say I&rsquo;m very pleased! The colors, shapes and style were completely new to me as a lifelong fan of space-themed sets, and I am not disappointed in the least by this purchase. As a casual Lord of the Rings fan, this checked all the boxes for me. Iconic setting from the films, mini figures of almost every great character from the first movie along with lots of Easter eggs and weapons&mdash;there&rsquo;s a lot to enjoy. Sitting on a table in my office, it catches the eye every time and I notice a new detail when I look at it. The way they intentionally built so much of this off-grid really helps it feel organic and unique, so many surprising angles and cool techniques to establish the overall feel. It is a superb display piece that, while utterly unlike anything else I have in my collection, holds its own because of the spectacular detailing and superb color palette. There&rsquo;s not a bit of fluff on this set, the whole things feels curated. It&rsquo;s large, but it doesn&rsquo;t dominate a reasonably sized space. It feels appropriately sized and scaled for what it is, not overwhelming just for the sake of shock value. It feels substantial yet delicate. The only disappointment was that the build experience had to end. Even the minute-by-minute experience clearly had lots of attention because it was unusually well-paced. Apart from the foliage on the trees there was really no repetition, and they broke up the tree builds enough that even that wasn&rsquo;t painful. The roof tiles, while not the most thrilling, were not cumbersome at all in the end. From beginning to end, this is just a very annoying build which is very gentle to put together - I&rsquo;m scared of touching it without parts of the trees falling apart, in fact that even happened in the very last bag when putting it all together. When you&rsquo;re building it you can tell the parts where they have cut corners which is a shame given the size and cost of the model. One of the most frustrating parts is the big white section in the middle, I&rsquo;m sure this could have been designed better but instead, again, it just feels very gentle to the touch and a few corners cut: likewise same goes with the stickers&hellip;come on, the price of the set and there&rsquo;s this many stickers? There are Wow moments such as the figures at the bottom of the tower which are well thought out and a joy to build. I knocked a star off as almost every page it&rsquo;s difficult to see the instructions near the spine. I don&rsquo;t like bending the book too far that it eventually breaks. I am a big fan of the films and was very excited when I found out Lego was releasing this set. The designers and creators truly outdid themselves with Rivendell. They recreated one of the most beautiful locations in the Lord of the Rings with stunning detail. The entire set is incredibly intricate with so many details throughout. The architecture in the entire set is breathtaking. My favorite features are the council of Elrond, the waterfall, the tiles of the interior, the design of the roof, and each of the wonderful trees in the exterior. I really appreciated the unique weapons made for this set including Gimli's axes, all the swords, and the Shards of Narsil. It's clear so much thought and care was put into making this set. I also loved reading the notes put in the building instructions. I'm very hopeful we'll see a resurgence of more Lego Lord of the Rings sets soon! It would be amazing if we could finally see sets featuring Gondorians and Sauron. This is flat out the best Lego set I have ever seen. The amount of work that the designers put into this set is obviously comparable to the effort that Tolkien put into his Magnum Opus. Every detail about Rivendell: the colors, the architecture, the intricate patterns etched into the various walls and pillars... all of it is captured in this set. And many other details are clearly shown in reverence of Tolkien lore... like the fact that there are three different heights to the mini-figures, with elves being the tallest, and Hobbits being the shortest. There is so much detail that basically every major scene from the story that takes place in Rivendell... can be re-enacted with this set... from major scenes like the Council of Elrond or Arwen and Elrond's argument about Aragorn's fate... too many snippets of very short scenes such as Bilbo's book; the re-forging of Anduil; Boromir dropping the shards of Narsil; Arwen and Aragorn sitting under the Pavillion; and many... many more. I have my own Lego Naz (ring) and it is... precious too me. The building techniques are unlike anything I have yet experienced with Lego...the team has really put a lot of time and effort into this design. The design is beautiful and I am amazed at how much detail was incorporated into the build. They have really captured the feel of Rivendell in this set. I also loved the addition of several Easter eggs (lembas, the Eye of Sauron, etc.) into the design. I kept stopping to show the intricacies to my family. My 11-year old daughter joined in the project as we took the advice of other builders by listening to the LotR soundtrack while building. Definitely worth every penny and would highly recommend! The build was very immersive and lots of fun. The attention to detail was out of the ballpark and created a really captivating building experience. Well worth the money for this incredible creation, you will not be disappointed. I hope we see more LotR sets in the future that have this much passion in their design.
