The level of detail is simply awe-inspiring, flawlessly capturing Elrond's Council with meticulous precision. The vibrant colors, along with the breathtaking roof pattern (albeit a bit laborious to assemble), contribute to its overall splendor. I'm particularly impressed by the ingenious and unconventional use of pieces, such as the sausage chairs, gazebo, and the grey minifigs as statues. But what truly elevates this set is the inclusion of a vast number of minifigures, including the entire Fellowship of the Ring, adding an extra layer of immersion and authenticity. It's an exhilarating set through and through! I got into LEGO as an adult through the Botanical collection, and through my sons who like houses and buildings. This felt like the best of both those worlds, just on a larger scale. A lot of the techniques were new to me (I had to look up SNOT) and really opened my mind to how pieces could be used. It was fun to see the payoff as the elements came together. Every detail was so well thought out, and as a Tolkien fan, cool to see all the little elements from that world. The price is up there, but I think it was worth it for the time it took to put together, the size, and ingenuity of the design.
