Great set, especially if you have buccaneer bay to pair it with. Has lots of different configurations that it can be displayed/played in. Only slight let down is the size compared to buccaneer bay, felt like it should have been a little bigger. Overall though a great set and build.

Satisfying Build Journey with a Great Destination
This was such a satisfying build journey from start to finish. I never owned the original set, but am squarely in the age demo for the nostaglia of this set.
Early on, the heavy reliance on similar and small dark grey bricks can feel a bit monotonous, but it is filled with enough details to keep it interesting until arriving at the fort itself. The amount of detail in the basement/rock level is really quite impressive. Satisfying build process overall.
Also, for an 18+ "display" set, the amount of "play interactions" in this set is really incredible. And, I mean, its okay to play with our "display" legos sometimes.
The modular function is awesome, too, allowing for multiple displays. When set up in the single walled fort front, the length is impressive and makes the set feel much bigger.
And the inclusion of the ship really puts it over the top. Just the fort would be great, but a ship to go with it makes this well worth it.

This set is absolutely insane! Such a good set with great builds and figures! This set screams fun and summer to me! I was on the fence of buying it but I pulled the trigger and did not regret it! The only problem with this set is the palm trees. They were such a pain to build but other than that, this set looks beautiful on display and is a nice larger Lego set to add to anyone’s collection!

So close!
This is an excellent revamp of the original set, and I'm thrilled to have the original bluecoats back. The modular layout is nice, and the inclusion of the ship from the Imperial Trading Post is wonderful.
Unfortunately, the bar has been set extremely high for these remakes: Sets like Barracuda Bay and the Lion Knight's Castle capture the *spirit* of the theme and expand on that using modern techniques. This set is, unfortunately, just a straight remake of the original. I'd just like to see more.
Barracuda Bay was filled with easter eggs and references to the original theme like the Kahuka statue, and had a fully detailed interior. Lion Knight's Castle featured angled wall sections, thatched roofs, a grindstone, and lots of other details that were never found on any original castle sets.
This set feels a bit devoid of details by comparison to those other remakes. There's even a few things that are downgrades from the original: you can't put cannons through the new wall design, and the ship doesn't have the cargo hatch that was present on the original, and there's a lack of proper doors, and of course the palm trees are the modern ones which somehow don't look as good as the ones from 30 years ago.
The design language of the set is great and I'm thrilled to see an Imperial Fort at all (certainly a pretty niche subject matter!), but imagine if this was a modular port town with a tavern, a barracks, an officers' quarters, and maybe a blacksmith. There'd be so much more room for storytelling and an exploration of the pirates theme! (Search for the SleeplessNight MOCs on Rebrickable to see what I mean.)
Fundamentally, this set is trying to complete with the original Eldorado and modern fan creations, and lands in the middle. It's good, but isn't more exciting to look at than the original set. I'm worried that Lego will interpret poor sales of this set as a lack of demand for pirates -- that's not the case! But please give us more content that's "inspired by" the originals like Barracuda Bay and Lion Knight's Castle, not a straight remake like this.

Back to the 90s
I grew up with lego throughout the 90s. My favorite was always the pirate sets..... I think my first set ever was a pirate set. This set brought me back to my childhood and allowed me to share it with my kids. The modular design was a fantastic addition....especially since our hands are not as small as they use to be. Also the addition of a ship was an excellent touch. I was skeptical at first without the original baseplate....but it was actually alot nicer and looks amazing. My only real complaint or point to improve would be to use 90s style palm trees and monkey.

Great build experience with my son. I appreciated the nostalgic authenticity with 0 stickers! Hallelujah! And my son loved the crane, secret compartments, letter box and particularly the trap door and jail escape hatch! Great authentic original features to keep AFOLs happy (including cannons that actually shoot unlike the ones us US people may have been forced to use as kids with the original pirate sets) and tons of playability to keep the offspring we live vicariously through happy. Fun for the whole family! Please keep sets like this coming, and keep up the no stickers trend, what a breath of fresh air!

I purchased this set the day it became available. I grew up playing with the older pirate sets and I wanted my son to jump in on the fun that I remember experiencing at his age. This set did not disappoint! We worked on it together and had such a great time. So cool that you could do multiple builds at once. I know some people have complained about some redundancies primarily regarding the lifted stone foundation but I was all for it! Loved how the designer went away from the original molded base and used bricks instead. I’m all for details like this and the brick builds and patterns to make the rocks look killer! We have already put in multiple hours of play and I am confident we have even more ahead. The designer really did a great job and I’m in for the next pirate theme set. Maybe a trading post??? 😜

Great throwback
Oh man the second I saw this I HAD to have it so I ordered it. I wanted this set soooo bad when I was a kid but we were pretty poor when I was growing up so Lego sets were something purchased maybe once a year for a birthday or Christmas. I was really impressed by the details and especially the playability of this set, even though I only display my sets. Well, I did kinda play with this one for a while like I was 9 years old again. The only thing I don’t really care for is the ship. It’s ok, but it’s not great. I’d rather they leave it out and charge a little less but it’s fine. Great Minifigs too, although I wish they’d go back to the basic smiley face especially for soldier Minifigs. In my opinion they should all look the same. The build is fun, not too repetitive, but good luck with those two palm trees, putting the palm leaves on seemed really difficult to get them all the way in place. Overall a great build experience, nothing was confusing. What a great set and I’m happy to finally have it.

The original was the first big lego set I had as a kid, so I had to get this! Overall an enjoyable build although some aspects were a bit repetitive. I did like how the build can be split among multiple people due to it being modular. I wish it had more call backs/Easter eggs like the barracuda bay did, I would have also liked some printed pieces to show damage instead of the build strategy of showing exposed brick. Overall I’m really happy with and it looks great displayed with a unique color palette!
