It&rsquo;s frustrating to be disappointed with a set but trying not to be more than the average crazy person let&rsquo;s give it a go. This set fell short!!! From when the set turned up in its oversized box which is less than 1/2 full (yes I get it this is not new but it needs called out for the waste it is) It just did not feel like a set that Lego were invested in. The inclusion of the clipper ship was not need for the build and the poor quality print on the sails left a feeling that this set was being sold short. The multiple different sized institutions were just a disappointment feeling like it was lacking in quality. A lack of imagination in the instruction manuals them selfs. With few references to the original build or comments on where the imagination in the set was. There were some early on then just seemed to drop off as if each instruction manual had been produced by a different individuals. The fortress it&rsquo;s self once completed is a nice build but feels like it&rsquo;s missing some thing that would have elevated the build. Would I recommend this set, not as much as others classic sets. I think this would make a fantastic 12+ set The set also features LEGO's &quot;new&quot; Multi-builder system. There are 4 instruction booklets for 4 separate parts of the set which can be built at the same time by 4 different people. This means it is great for multi builders, large groups. Though they don't mention this anywhere on the box. Though as a &quot;displayer&quot; of LEGO, I do think this set has some decent play potential. There are only a few &quot;features&quot; like crane, cannon, a few trap doors, but the set is very modular. I could easily imagine children taking a part of the fortress and having their own mini fortress to trade (or defend) with other players. The terrain design for the base is outstanding and the build techniques on the ship was awesome. I uad purchased two of these to make a larger version, and had to add some parts to the top dection to connect it how i wanted, but the design of the set itself was perfect for a stand alone fort.
