<span itemprop="name">Un bel hommage</span>

<span itemprop="name">Nostalgia for Dad and Fun for Son</span>
<span itemprop="description">LEGO Eldorado Fortress is a perfect father/son toy. I enjoyed some childhood nostalgia, a great building experience with my son, and he loves the great play features. The set looks wonderful and I appreciate the retro yellow and white color scheme. The instruction manual was thoughtfully divided into multiple books for different age groups which allowed my son and I to spread the build over several nights. He was able to enjoy several smaller bits that were appropriate for his attention span while I got to build the larger portions. Marketing this kit as 18+ is a miss on the part of LEGO, as my young son has been happily playing with this set nonstop for the entire week. The combination of a row boat, a small cargo ship, a working crane, firing cannons, lost treasure, a little jail, and pirate minifigs has resulted in many hours of fun. The best feature of all is the ability to disassemble and reassemble the fortress in multiple configurations, which has fascinated my son. The potential for creative stories and adventures is nearly endless. Excellent set, highly recommended, especially for parent/child duos. Well done, Lego.</span>

<span itemprop="description">I bought this set together with contributions from three friends/family members to all build together. The set has five instruction booklets and I think seven distinct modules, so it’s good for sharing. The sections are all different sizes, so you can match them to people by their build speed.
The design of the fort is really nice and detailed. I’m not sure I especially like the red details in the walls (designed to look like exposed red brick under plaster rendered walls), but I see what they were going for. The boat feels a bit sort of blunt and squat to me, but has enjoyable construction techniques all the same.
Overall a really nice set</span>

<span itemprop="name">Childhood Nostalgia but missing some points</span>
<span itemprop="description">Firstly, congrats to Lego to 'reviving' a set from many people's childhood past. The subtle changes from the first version to this one are impressive to see.
I would echo some commentary in the fact that the amount of bricks required to build the 'rock base' did become a bit repetitive. As well, the 'string' used for the crane is not ideal - how about we look to get a bit thicker / firmer rope for this in future sets?
However, I would also mention that the change from 'wall panels' to brick built walls is a nice change, and allowed for a lot more functionality + playability afterwards. The improved boat is a great addition - and the added characters is great to see! Finally, the ability to 'break out' different parts of the build to re-configure the entire fort is great, and I'm sure a ton of people will enjoy that added change.
Congrats to Lego and the design team - it's a great addition to the childhood nostalgia theme that Lego is leaning in to.</span>

<span itemprop="description">A beautiful set that is not merely inspired by, but is a remake (and in some ways an improvement) of the original set! The addition of a sloop from another set of the retro Pirate themes was a fine touch, and gives the Blue Coats something to sail with, since the pirates either have the Creator pirate ship or the Barracuda. Since the base is built up this time, it allows for more modularity and customization. I can’t wait to see someone on Bricklink combine this set.
Now if only LEGO could just bring back the Pirates theme, or at least remake the newer Imperial Flagship to bring the Red Coats back and give them their edge against the pirates and Blue Coats.</span>

<span itemprop="name">Governor Broadside's had some work done</span>
<span itemprop="description">As I fall into the 45 - 60 age bracket, it'll come as no surprise to learn I picked this up as I owned the original version of this set back in 1989. It was the last big Lego set I was given in Christmas that year and I loved it. I looked after it and later gave it to my nephew, who promptly decorated the garden with all the parts and figures. Sigh. Well toys are for playing with, so at least he enjoyed himself. I've been fond of Lego's recent recreation of older sets (much better than straight reissues), and whilst this may be very much playing to silly old farts like me, it is a great set.
The main advantage this has over the original is the inclusion of a larger boat (a Clipper, apparently - I don't know boats), so you can have hours of fun loading and unloading the thing using the crane. Or at least I have, it's a toy right? Play with it!
The main build I really enjoyed - the terrain isn't as monotonous as it looks to build, with different techniques to keep it interesting. The overall look once complete is excellent. Although I do have one criticism - I'm not a fan of the way Governor Broadside's office has no back to it and the secondary cannon emplacement gets in the way of being able to do anything useful with the space. Still, I have some bricks of my own so I can remedy that. It's a minor thing when one considers the way this takes the original toy and refines and updates it using modern pieces and techniques.
The main selling point of this is the modular nature of the set. You can split it apart and reconfigure it a variety of ways, which also reveals a few underground secrets - hidden treasure, some barrels of ale or similar and a poor pirate who made a wrong turn when trying to escape!
I'm also really pleased with all the play features packed in - along with aforementioned underground areas, you've got a prison cell your prisoners can break out of, loads of gun emplacements, those awesome cannons (really pleased these remain as fearsome as ever), a couple of trap doors, loads of little bags of stuff, a kitchen area and table to eat alfresco. Nice! Oh, and I love that the ramp now has studs so you can pose figures on it! How cool is that?
Rounding out the set is a selection of cheery soldiers and a couple of pirates. I was surprised to see that three of the soldiers were female, which I appreciated. It's always nice to have some gender balance to historical sets like these.
I've been super pleased with the set overall and think it's excellent. For what you get and the play features included, it's a much more worthy retro themed purchase compared to the very expensive Castle and is as good as the superb Galaxy Explorer.</span>

<span itemprop="description">This set is great, lots of cool hidden features, BUT it could have easily been designed with 200-300 less pieces and been just as great. Lego needs to get a hold of its designers to make great sets like this more affordable.
The modular system is cool but the connections are not the same for each section which limits options for rearranging the set and limits the display options. The connections should be standard for each section.</span>

<span itemprop="name">Epic classic!</span>
<span itemprop="description">As a (currently) adult LEGO fan, this set is an amazing comeback of a classic theme that left a deep mark on my childhood. I jumped on it the minute it was announced and reserved a set before the official launch date! @LEGO team, if you go over these, please give us more remakes or new sets of the classic themes (Pirates, Castle, Space, etc.) as I am very sure they will be huge successes.
This set has it all, and then some more in terms of detail, play-ability, complexity, etc. Figures are amazing, new building techniques, terrain building and more. For me it will sit exactly between Pirates of the Barracuda Bay (21322) and Lion Knight's Castle (10305).</span>

<span itemprop="name">Pirates!</span>
<span itemprop="description">Because I have only become a Lego fanatic since my grandson was born( 10 years ago) I don’t know the history of a lot of kits but this eldorado kit more than lives up to the hype. I know it’s rated for 18+ but my 10 yo had no problem with it- he constantly commented on the clever piece placement in the construction elements and could appreciate the trap doors and other foils. Then as an added happy surprise- it supports Pirates of the Caribbean ( which he got last year) . All in all a super kit and a fun time</span>

<span itemprop="name">Premium product should have premium printing</span>
<span itemprop="description">This set is great and an amazing Addison to my pirates collection and more like it would be GREATLY appreciated but there is one main issue. The white printing on the soldiers is terrible and really ruins the figures. The worst part about this issue with printing is that it’s been going on for a while and the advertising on the box is false because of it. It’s really disappointing. I think issue deserves needs to be fix immediately or else the company’s slogan of “only the best is good enough” would be false. So please when it comes to making your premium products make sure its premium.</span>

<span itemprop="name">Meh Build, Great Display</span>
<span itemprop="description">The overall build didn't really do it for me. I found the rock building a bit of a slog and kind of repetitive and there was a lot of repetition for things like the crenulations on the fort. The display and playability of the set is top notch and it looks really good with the ideas pirate ship.</span>

<span itemprop="description">I Never got to experience the original eldorado fortress or pirate theme in general and was either not alive or too young to have access to the subsequent similar themes. However this set was just incredible giving me a taste of the old theme as well as just an amazing fortress. Love the detail, loved the build and love the theme!!!</span>

<span itemprop="name">Nostalgia to the Extreme</span>
<span itemprop="description">This is a quality remake of a classic set; a fantastic recreation, that evokes feelings of nostalgia!
The set has expanded playability, build technique, and display-ability beyond the original 1989 Eldorado Fortress - with updated prints/characters.
The modularity of the new version is a bonus and there are so many details built in to the brick-built base as well as the fortress itself. The ship with printed fabric sails is a lovely addition.</span>
