<span itemprop="description">“The spice must flow” is an apt analogy for this set, as Lego has continuously sacrificed quality for profit the last few years… The injection points are painfully visible on bricks now… it’s really sad to see the quality decline and the price just keep going up. Props on environmental goals but this is cutting corners (literally) on quality leading to bricks that look worse than 3rd party brands. Lego used to say “only the best is good enough” … well Lego is no longer good enough to justify the price. It’s been a fun hobby to get back into but I think I’m going to limit my purchases. You’ve turned a lifelong fan against your brand, Lego.</span>

<span itemprop="description">Overall Thoughts:
The set was an absolute pleasure to build, looks phenomenal, and is a proper size. All the internal mechanisms to deploy/retract the landing gear and fold/unfold/flap the wings were a joy to build and function perfectly. The tail section is also very rigid and can easily support all the weight even holding it as a cantilever.
Minor Complaints:
The biggest is that the wings are made from soft plastic and are all bowed in the same direction. I've tried gently bending them backwards, but they always settle back to their curved shape. Quite unfortunate since the set looks simply fantastic when all the wings are flat. The second complaint is that when your using the mechanism to flap the wings, the gear spine part bumps into the piece behind it and always knocks it off. That, however, is a nonissue as I was able to correct it myself.
Afterthoughts:
If I had two things to add to the set it would be to have a small compartment (or similar) for the minifigs tools or weapons. Lastly some spring blasters would be great since these ships do have armaments! Other than that, it truly is an absolutely fantastic set for play or display!</span>

<span itemprop="description">I built the ornithopter last week and was suprised at how complex the building experience was. I had watched a few reviews on the product beforehand, and while I knew that it was mostly Technic based, the intricacies of the inside of the model were surprising. Opening the wings once the ship was built is one of the craziest experiences I’ve had building LEGO, the sheer size of the ship was jaw dropping. Colors on the connectors to the blades are an issue, but there’s a guy on youtube who put out a list of the parts you need to replace most of the visible ones for less that four dollars, which is definitely worth it in my opinion. Overall a very well designed set.</span>

<span itemprop="description">This set is kind of worth the price. You can buy bigger sets for the same money, but this one has most of the main characters and the ornithopter is insane. One thing I’ll say, this build didn’t take a day. It didn’t take two days. It took a few days of frustration; not every single step was on the page you kinda had to assume where stuff went, so a lot of the time I’d go to the next bag just to find out I did something wrong that I already built on top of. This is a very challenging set. Hope more sets are made for Dune!</span>

<span itemprop="description">WOW. Wow. What a gorgeous build. Really excellent design, both in the look and functionality. A stunning one piece that is challenging and elegant and looks wonderful when finished. Really clear instructions through the challenging parts of the build. The moving parts made me actually squeal. The wing mechanism is some genius magic. I’ve been a little jaded recently with some of the lacklustre Hogwarts builds and all the stickers everywhere but THIS!!! This is delightful. Not a sticker in sight and yet it is so beautiful. It doesn’t need stickers. It is perfect in its elegant realism and brimming with character. Lego as it should be and an absolute bargain for the quality and build. That’s not even mentioning the hugely generous mini figs you get in this set.
My Lego-building friend, why are you still reading this, add this ace to your basket and see for yourself. Gloriousness.

As most people tend to do, I drifted away from Lego and other childhood interests as I grew older.
Only in the last few years, around the time of the pandemic, did I return to Lego, this time in the form of UCS Star Wars sets and other builds marketed more towards adults.
When Dune Part Two released recently in theaters, I absolutely adored the film and was blown away by what I saw. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that Lego had already released an Ornithopter set one month prior! I had no idea.
I watched some videos and read reviews before actually ordering the set, as $175 is not a small amount of money these days.
The reviews, as positive as they were, still did not do this set justice. The quality of this build is outstanding. I’ve never held a set that feels so solid. I feel as if I dropped this set on the floor, only the cockpit pieces would break off. It’s that’s solid of a build.
Every single bit of space is utilized to perfection. I know some folks aren’t big fans of Lego technic, but for me, it just added to the challenge and the fun of building.
The fact that you can open and close the massive wings, flap them, and open and close two sets of landing gear at the same time is amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever had a set with such seamless and smooth features before.
Overall, the Lego Ornithopter delivers a scale model that stays true to the aesthetic of Dune, with a fantastic lineup of mini figures. The playability and design is near perfect.
Any small discrepancies or visible technic is not an issue for me, as the abundant pros far outweigh the scarce cons.
There is no doubt you are getting what you pay for. It’s absolutely worth the price.
The set looks fantastic on display, and I hope Lego continues to create Dune inspired sets in the future.</span>

<span itemprop="description">I love the design of this model. It looks great with tons of playability. However, as clever as the Technic mechanisms are, I was disappointed with the flapping. I had to rebuild a couple of times to make sure I got it right and never could get it to flap much. Plus the useless bay door that stays open when the landing gear is down was something I would never have been okay with as a designer.</span>

<span itemprop="description">The build experience and the display aesthetic make this a must have for me. Only a few things are worth mentioning. First, there is a 2x3 plate (installed in step 15) that falls out when using the wings flapping lever. Second, the linkage for the wings folding mechanism (installed in step 155) can become dislodged requiring disassembly to reconnect, and the wings folding lever itself will not stay locked in the folded position. Third, when folding the wings, the wings will hit each other and require manual adjustment to allow them to fold completely. Aside from these three things it is a great looking set, and currently has a place front and center in my living room!</span>
