Great play value with the cockpit, comms module and jets able to be reassembled away from the body of the craft, and the vehicle drop action. Could be built from age 5 or 6 and today's children would benefit from this set more than many others because more of the pieces are in the theme colours and are versatile for rebuilding; we need more sets like this. Best with no stickers and just the right printed bricks. The downloadable instructions were OK with a large monitor but I might have struggled on a small pad, definitely on a phone. I absolutely LOVE a lot of Lego themes from the 80s and 90s, but the Space themes and its subthemes really stand out. What really makes these sets stand out are their contrasting color palettes as well as the bright &quot;see-through&quot; pieces that gives each subtheme its own sense of individuality. The modular parts are great but slightly different to the re-released blacktron cruiser so for this set great but the other now requires a slight mod. I also keep forgetting this is also a 2-in-1 set. As someone who spent a lot of time pitting the 6954 Renegade against 6980 Galaxy Commander, the new Renegade is a worthy successor! The odd asymmetric nature of the ship makes it a unique addition to the Lego space theme, and the modular build remains a staple part of the mysterious Blacktron design. A very fun build with some nice techniques, although nothing too advanced. The drop-ship function is a very interesting addition and works seamlessly with the included planet rover. I love the inclusion of some of the original painted parts, such as the control panels and directional arrows. My only real critique is the design of the front of the ship; the large flat printed plate approach makes the front of the ship feel incomplete and hollow. It is also disappointing that the flagship printed logo piece maybe not the easiest to integrate into alternate builds.
