This item was a bit more challenging, but the end product is awesome. My only complaints are: Some missing pieces - but I could use pieces from other sets and that worked. Rather than wait for missing pieces, I decided to &quot;customize&quot; my train. But now I am sitting here with 9 wheels that do not get used anywhere. I have gone through the instruction books and cannot find any reference to these wheels. They are not train wheels because they do not have the flange to keep them on the track. I don't know which is worse missing pieces or too many pieces. The level of detail is amazing, the finished model looks great, and given the high piece count and challenging (fun) build, it justifies the price. Trying to view this from any other than the aforementioned perspective completely misses the point of the set. A new car that doesn't have self-driving capabilities isn't a bad car or an overpriced car -- it's a car you have to drive yourself. And how can you leave out 2 main characters for the mini-fig. Older Ron and Hermione. This set just isn't it. Overall I think the actual model of the train itself is gorgeous. It's a fantastic build especially the engine and looks stunning, however when combined with the track and station, it feels incomplete to me. The station feels far to small given the scale chosen for the train and while it compliments the story and setting, feels like a waste of parts and an unessercary increase to the over all cost. The track works as a nice display setting, but again feels like a waste. It doesn't fit on regular LEGO tracks which is frustrating but isn't the biggest issue for me, but personally I would prefer no track than a custom built one that leaves me paying more. There are a lot of fun easter eggs, great minifigures (besides the glaring and unfortunate absence of epiloge Ron and Hermione) and overall feels like a lot of care went into the details of the set. The quote tiles aren't my favourite, aside from being stickers, it feels a little gimmicky, and takes me out of the story however the rest of the passenger car has some great build techniques and looks perfect. However it's scale leaves it being too large and incredibly difficult to find space for, it's too heavy to motorise and resulted in a set that feels half finished. It feels as if the concept of this set was just too big to execute, even with a massive budget and price tag. I think scaling the set back and removing the track and station and letting the train be the star and shine on it's own for a smaller price point would have improved the set significantly. It's a very impressive LEGO model and is truely a work of art, but as a consumer product, it leaves a lot to be desired. Even more so because of how expensive the set is, when it didn't need to be anywhere near this expensive and large. Pros I had many WOW and happy moments building the train and the platform. So many clever ways of using bricks etc in original ways. I especially loved the arches on the platform, the stack of coal in the tender and the seats in the carriage- brilliant. The detail is amazing on the engine, tender and carriage, with some iconic scenes from the films. The track is a bit repetitive, but once I got into a rhythm I found it quite therapeutic. Cons The middle section of the engine is a bit wobbly or not as secure as the rest of the engine. The platform does obscure the train if in front and you can't see the platform when it is behind. I have put mine to the side. I do wish they had included an older Ron and Hermione rather than the two students. My BIGGEST issue is the plaque - which has the wrong locomotive model detail (apparently) but also King Cross Station??? It is King's Cross Station, such an important detail and it is wrong! When people are paying this amount of money, every detail should be checked, rechecked and checked again. I now have this at the back of the platform as it keeps drawing my eye. I have heard, and it may be a rumour, that Lego are going to update the plaque for the next run of the sets. I think it would be very good customer service, if those buyers who have the faulty plaque are offered an updated and correct plaque for free (proof of purchase obviously). Overall This is a display set, it is not a set to be motorised or to move around a cityscape. It is big and takes up a fair amount of space. I used my VIP points to significantly reduce the price, so would I have bought this at the full price, mmm not so sure, but I had more fun with this than the Colosseum. Though feel a bit aggrieved as I was so disappointed, for another year, that it was not Gringotts. Please can we have Gringotts in 2023. I'm a huge Lego and Harry Potter fan with all of the HP D2C sets and most regular sets going back a few years. I was excited when they announced this set, but a little frustrated with the price. The set is a fun build, but leaves me wanting more. I love the Hogwarts castle, which is fine even though its in micro scale. My issue with this set is that its minifig scale, but significantly off-scale from all of the other major HP sets. It's awkwardly large. I would have preferred a nicely detailed, but smaller Hogwarts express, similar to the most recent version with a more substantial station build. Also, like others, I'm a little disappointed in the minifigure selection. This is a high price tag with a ton of figures, but none of them really stand out as being particularly special or unique. Would I recommend this set to others? Probably not... the high price tag makes leave me wanting more.
