It has 985 pieces and there are 7 rooms with an outdoor area to build. They love the bright, fun colors. It comes with 5 characters and all of them were characters we have not received in other sets before. My daughter likes the multiple stories and that each classroom has a specific theme with special details. There is a cafeteria, art room, restroom and more. I love that my kids have played with this school for hours. First up, three separate instruction booklets meant we could build it together as a family and we each cooed in awe at all the intricate details and how well thought out the construction and design was. My 7 year old found it easy to build and my 4 year old played with each room separately as soon as it was built. The kids then played together with it for hours and it's the one set (out of their many sets!) that they've kept out and continuously played with. As parents, we also loved that it brought up a conversation about the character with the &quot;missing hand&quot; and it allowed us to have a conversation about diversity that we otherwise wouldn't have had. Little Miss 6 year old loved building it independently and was so proud that she accomplished it mostly by herself. As a parent I loved watching her problem solve and learn to follow instructions excitedly and proudly. The play set was a celebration of colour and intricate little details, perfect for our little girl. Once finished she loved role playing and storytelling independently as well as with her older brother (who couldn't resist joining in). The instructions are so easy to follow, even the 5 year old built some of this set with very minimal assistance. I loved that it was a larger set, so kept them busy for longer. I also appreciated the conversations which came from the questions the girls asked about the solar panels, the character with a limb difference, and the animal in the science lab.
