I must say their dad did help them a bit to be able and build it fully to the crocodile part. But they enjoyed playing with it in parts. They enjoy the fact that it kept it a family night thing. It helped them create a memory. And the car itself moves great. I'm really taken with the variety of options, normally we'd build something and after a while it'd sit on a shelf getting dusty, but with the instructions giving alternate builds, it opens up so many more build and play opportunities. There's a nice selection of characters in this set, and it was fun to work on together as there are multiple vehicles to build. One has the book, and the other uses the app. Then after a while we dismantled and built the other arrangements. The box is bright and eye-catching and shows the two ways you can build this set too which is very handy. The instructions were easy for my boy to follow and build the whole set on his own which he was very pleased with. Being able to build this set in two ways provides double the fun and enjoyment. My boy preferred the crocodile way and has had hours of fun playing with it and the characters in the set . He likes it so much that we even took this set with us on holiday abroad which kept him entertained. This is a great quality set and I can't recommend it enough. My son thought it was like Xmas. I love the fact that this set can be built two ways. So often a lego set is built and then never touched again. The fact that my child can take this apart and begin a whole new experience is excellent and makes this set great value for money. My son - who adores lego, spent an afternoon assembling the crocodile version. He found the instructions easy to follow and had it finished in a couple of hours. It was a gret school holiday treat. This would make a wonderful birthday present. My son is 8, but I feel he would have managed this from age 6 and certainly my older children, aged 10 and 11 would also really enjoy this. The Little features like the disk shooting were great fun. It didn't take too long to put together and the instructions are very easy to follow.
