I always wanted the pirate ship, I got the island and some of the smaller sets, but unfortunately never got the main ship. When this came out, I was delighted to finally tick something off the list from childhood. The ship is excellent, very intricate details and is a nice size. The ship took a good few hours to build, and the price per part was very reasonable compared to other sets. I have seen some reviews saying there should be more minifigures but to be honest 3 feels about right, its not over crowded the set and anyone younger would have good play value from everything here. The set is a joy to build, and something that sets it apart from the pirate ships of old is the fact that it is a fully brick built ship, with no use of the old ship hull base plates. I would of liked to see another pirate minifigure included in the set at its price, however that doesn't take away from the set in a major way. I got the lesson of my life that if you want to buy lego, buy it from a lego store rather than Toys R us who clearly do not want to take responsibility for the toy they sold. I would much rather see this as a stand alone set instead of a 3-in-1 but I have to take what I can get and I'm just happy Lego has released another Pirate ship. At first I didn't want to purchase this set bc I didn't think the brick-built sails looked as good as cloth. I don't have a ship with cloth sails to compare this to, but the brick built sails look good. Again, I would have rather had a new ship in the Pirate theme or even and expert Creator stand alone set bc although I really like the set, I do believe it is lacking in some aspects. The set only includes 2 cannons. There are four cannon ports. The set only includes 3 mini figures and a skeleton. I think for this size of a set and price we should get 4 or even 5 mini figures. That's why I say a stand alone set would have been better. There are extra pieces after building the ship that could've been more figures and 2 more cannons. Overall this is a fun set and a beauty to display. I hope Lego continues to release Pirate ships often in the future.
