<span itemprop="description">My daughter and I started a modular set collections. I probably would have passed on this set, but she really likes it. Thus, we bought it and the build experience was better than I anticipated. It looks better in person than on the box. The color combination is great for this set and I like that it is 2 halves, with the bookshop being on building and townhouse being the other half. We decided to put the Police station modular in the middle of the 2 halves and they all look very nice together. I switch one of the light poles to space out farther apart. I do agree with others that the bookshop could use more books or better illusions of books. Also, the townhouse should have a bathroom and more of a kitchen. I read somewhere the piece count is a factor in design and pricing. If piece count is a factor, I suggest using less pieces on other elements to add elements like bathroom/kitchen. I think if a studio apartment of assembly square could have a bathroom, then so can a townhouse.</span>

<span itemprop="description">This is my 2nd major build and I was totally amazed at the detail on the inside and outside of the bookshop and the adjoining townhouse. It was a fun build which took about 40 hours to complete. I love the fact that you can take the stories of the building off to view the inside . I have also purchased the Assembly Square, Police Station and the Boutique Hotel to complete my town. I now know why these items are always out of stock. I would highly recommend this build.</span>

<span itemprop="description">This Modular set is awesome. It takes days to build it with my son. He was enjoy building the bookshop and in the same parallel time I was building the flat. The bookshop just fine and I agree with previous comments suggesting adding some books and library features, decorations would give more value. The flat was ok but it missed crucial details and facilities such as bathroom and the kid bed.
We have added some touches to the backyard from our extra Lego pieces. Overall, we like it.</span>

<span itemprop="description">To start off the modular series is one of my favorite running series there is. If you are into these advance builds the Bookshop is a must to add to the collection. That said it’s time for some constructive criticism. Many people have brought these points up in previous reviews, but I’m going to pretend like this is the first review they’re receiving. Since this set’s focus is the bookshop I was a bit let down there was only one book in the set. There are many faux books, but even for a small book shop there is not nearly enough of those. I was let down by the interior of the buildings, seemed to lack the character I’m used to seeing in Lego builds. While the room upstairs in the bookshop is small it felt so weird to have a bed and an animal cage, just kinda thrown in there randomly. The exterior for the bookshop is great in my opinion and the birch tree is perfect for the set. Onto the townhouse! This was the more fun build to me. The colors are great and the aesthetics are spot on, especially with the roof detail. The house itself was a bit strange having no kitchen or bathroom and still being a house. I felt like it should have moved deeper into the baseplate to accommodate those items. The height, though shorter, is okay for me. Really wish I could give this one the last star, but for once Lego seemed to miss the mark by a touch.</span>

<span itemprop="description">I was so excited to get this set and put it together. I had a little trouble at first because I thought I was missing pieces. There are two buildings and two instruction manuals, one for each building. There are 19 bags, all labeled 1-9 with some numbers repeating. But the fonts of the numbers on the bags are different so I had assumed that one font was for one building and the other font numbers were for the other building. So I started to build and realized I was missing a ton of pieces. I thought it was a problem with the set, especially after reading some reviews here that said they were missing a ton of pieces, too. So I called Lego customer service and talked to Walter who was just about to see if he could ship me a new set when he asked me if I had opened ALL of the bags labeled number one, even if they had a different font. I had not. So I went back and opened all the bags and turns out that was the problem. So if you think you’re missing a lot of pieces, open all of the same numbered bags first and check even if they look like they should go to another part of the set. This set has some super cute features. I love the building details. I wish there were more Lego books. The “Moby Brick” book is cute, but I wish the inside said “Call me Emmet” instead of “once upon a time.” The cabinet inside the townhome is really cute and I love the orange window seat. I love the stone arch above the bookshop door and I love the staircase to the front door of the townhome. I wish the set was just a little bit bigger. It’s so small that you can’t really play with it, but it will look cute next to the other lego buildings. Overall it’s cute, but with some small changes could have been really awesome.</span>

<span itemprop="description">This set is very simple to build. The display outcome is nice. It can come off a bit boring compared to other Lego sets. The bookstore part could have had some more details added (like stickers of bookshelves) to make it come alive. Overall, I like it and would recommend it to someone who is just starting out with Lego building sets.</span>

<span itemprop="name">Not the best modular, but has its perks</span>
<span itemprop="description">It's hard to pinpoint what's off about this modular. I don't mind and am not frustrated with the two, 16x32 baseplates, nor do I find the tree awkward (like others have expressed). I think what I find off about this set are two things:
1. The size and structure of the house is somewhat weird. If you're placing this in a city, or a row of other modulars, this building sticks out in the wrong ways. It's easily one of the shortest buildings, and the bright teal color is only found in the Downtown Diner to match. Not a huge problem, but again, it sticks out for funny reasons.
2. There are some building choices here that make this modular seem a little "cheap" or that it wasn't fully finalized. For example, above the bay-widows there are three stacked rounded plates. I get that these are necessary to take the second floor off, but it makes it look a little strange, and almost looks like it's an error. Perhaps it should have been one complete, brick-tall rounded piece instead. Another issue is on both buildings, the back side/second floors look abruptly cut off. This makes the buildings look skinnier, less substantial, and overall less realistic. I get this is to reduce piece count and bring the cost down but it's a nevertheless noticeable. Pet Shop didn't have that problem and they look a bit more complete. There are also a handful of pieces who's colors don't match the accompanying or conjoining pieces. Tthe roofing tiles on the house are blue while underneath is black, and the snot bricks on the last level of the bookshop are tan instead of nougat.
Pros! It's my wife's favorite modular, there are some very fun building techniques, and overall, I'm glad to have it!</span>

<span itemprop="description">I personally enjoyed building this and I quite love the detail of the exterior roofing. The bookshop interior could have had a bit more detail to it, but the flooring kind of makes up for it. My kids enjoy playing with this addition to our city.</span>

<span itemprop="name">My first modular building!</span>
<span itemprop="description">This was the first set I got after the Central Perk set got me back into the game that is LEGO. I had no idea what I was in for! The Friends one was fun to build but this was fantastic. I really loved building all these little intricate things for the first time. I had had no idea things could look like that. The exterior, for most of the modulars, is the main draw, and that's the case with this one. The interior IS lovely, though, don't get me wrong. Many complain about the lack of books in the book shop but I find it plenty sufficient. The green stairs are so gorgeous. The rooms are so great and efficient. I think my favorite is the little townhouse, though. It reminds my wife and I of our own little apartment in NYC and is really quite cute. The bay windows in the front is probably my favorite feature on any exterior of any modular. I got some cheap LED lights and lit it my own way instead of buying one of those expensive packs, see for yourself how it turned out. It's all so beautiful and was a heck of a way to get into the modular scene. I bought a great many after this, the Diner being my personal favorite, but this one is still terrific.</span>
