Note that the bottom is flat and cannot build on top of other studs. I really don't mind how flexible it is because you're not building with it, just on top of it. This piece is ESSENTIAL for all Lego builders. And you can never get enough. BUT: Lego, please offer 2-packs (Blue and Green, White and Grey), and lower the price of the grey piece. Also I'm a fan of the Road baseplates but not the offering or the price. Listen to your customers and offer 2-packs of 2 straight, 2 curved, 2 T, and 2 4-way intersections. You have to understand that when you place two crosswalks beside each other they look stupid. Take a piece of paper and cut little squares then sketch out the current offerings to make a 6 to 8 baseplate design. It's crazy-expensive to buy them in these offerings and still make your city look organised. OR, do a 3-pack with 2 straight and 1 single 4-way, or do a 4-pack with 4 curves. Please play around with the offerings and tell me it's fair for Lego fans because I'll tell you, it'$ not. The occasional T-intersection is perfect for a firehall or a hospital, but having too many makes for a janky looking city and I refuse to buy the roads for this reason. Also they don't have enough studs on them to make them the same price as the regular baseplates. Add some connector pieces (A bench, anything) to increase the value and make some Lego fans happy. For a decorative piece (road vs 32x32 stud baseplate) it's not worth the money, but the baseplates could come in 2-packs and take off a dollar or two; you'll sell more of these.
Date published: 2020-06-16

Rated 1 out of 5 by MartinD from Colour change is stupid and annoying! Why change the colour? Grasses do come in various shades of green, and it’s not entirely unrealistic to have Bright Green grass. Moreover, the bright green provides a nice contrast to the regular green of the trees and plants when built upon it. Built on Regular Green baseplates and the trees and plants would tend to “disappear” as they would be of the same shade as the “grass”. This Bright Green baseplate, however, may not match with the regular Green baseplates and this seems to be the main gripe amongst fans who already have collected many baseplates in regular Green. Even did beta tests for several LEGO PC games. But this product rather makes me very disappointed in the company. I expected to buy a product from the same quality as in the past. While I never really did have much money to buy much, I focused mostly on getting sets that would add to my total bricks and useful bricks. This caused me to skip on the ground plates which are rather expansive to start with. I do have mostly plates from the 80's and 90's, but these new ones are rather a completely new thing that adds a lot of problems. 1. Quality is rather poor compared to the original, thicker plates. It bents way to easy and with that it could likely be unusable in no time depending on who is using it. A child may for example bend it during playing within a month. A adult may find a similar problem within the year of intensive usage. Which is a serious problem due to it's fairly high price for 1 item. 2. Color is way off, this is a light green and not the original green that was sold in the 80's and 90's. It should be re-branded as 'light green' and a original green color variant should be placed back in the product line. I keep noticing these problems with many more parts that LEGO produces lately, which is a big problem for the amount of money you pay as customer. Of course this also adds a even bigger problem in case of small parts breaking off. For a adult that may be just a sad feeling left behind or angry that it broke so easily. But for kids it could mean that they manage to swallow it with obvious things following. For the colors, this seems to be happening with a lot of original colors on the bricks. You won't hear me if these were added to what LEGO has in it's arsenal so to speak. But replacing the old, which never really happened before in such a huge way, is a huge no-no. I strongly will ask LEGO to NEVER do that again in the future. It will seriously cause problems for those that don't have the money to buy often or much but still have the same hobby long after their childhood. Also it causes a lot of confusion as you never know what to expect when you buy a set. Kids may not really even know or notice, but for the long time expert builders this is a huge problem. My tip for parents with young children: Please don't be afraid of my review, kids will manage to break what ever they can. This is how they learn the quickest. It may also teach them not to break something and expect to get rewarded for it by a brand new toy. For the color variation in this and other lego products, don't feel bad because of it. Kids have a very rich imagination and will 100% for sure find a reason why they have suddenly a different color and how to use it to the best of their abilities. For LEGO company: I highly urge to work on the points that I pointed out, as fan of the company myself I would hate to see LEGO go down on something so silly. Yet unfortunately it could easily happen with current day foolishness in the world. Please be welcome to contact me, I would love to help out to restore order in the madness created the last decades.
Date published: 2018-01-17

Rated 4 out of 5 by ActualOdin from Simple, yet appealing. The green base plate is very nice, like ice in a refreshing beverage on a warm summer's day.
Date published: 2018-01-07

Rated 3 out of 5 by Laughable775 from More expensive than the better base plates!?!? The color has changed ,price has raised and its not as good quality wise.why Lego.i have been a fan for many years and this was a bad idea in my opinion.
Date published: 2018-01-05

Rated 5 out of 5 by buymedinner1st from Great! This is good lego for build. Not long ago they retired the blue base plates. Not a great idea - apart from the fact that it is a basic colour for any water/sea based creations, it was around the same time that I was collecting the arctic sub-theme and I needed a bunch for a display. So... thanks for that! A really bad decision on Lego's part. They replaced it with a tan board...erm, seaside scenes - don't you need both sand and water???? Now they change the colour of the green boards so half of mine don't match. I have no idea when this change happened, it seems to have just slipped in quietly to the annoyance of many. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with this board, so I wouldn't go as far to say that I wouldn't recommend it - it is what it is. I just think a sneaky colour change is a poor show for those that thought they were buying one thing and got another. Not impressed. I sincerely hope that this and all the other similar messages get back to the designers as you say it will, and that you will undo this mistake. This is not what the customer wants and surely addressing that is what is most important. I just hope it doesn't take years for it to happen.
Date published: 2017-09-07

Rated 2 out of 5 by pjq44 from Very thin and flexible For the price, I would not recommend this baseplate.
