But, I found JK Brickworks' easy modification to use pieces from the kit to create a good representation of the actual face, so I bought this kit and don't regret it. Even with the repetition, it was an enjoyable build, especially the pedestal. Thankfully, the left and right-sloped pieces came in separate bags so that made it much easier to assemble the outer surface of the statue. I love the scale of this set, I thought it would be about 2/3 of the size it actually is. Lego have produced a fun build with lots of detail, that is until you get to the face. It&rsquo;s a bit of an anti climax when you&rsquo;ve been building a detailed set and then get to the face just to put a plain tile there. BUT it would be harsh to criticise lego for this, some people have suggested they should have printed the face, that would just look odd! The other option is to build the face, but for that to look right the set would have to be 2 or 3 times the size (which would be awesome), so they made the right choice for the size even though it looks a little odd. The build was great and was one that my younger sister jumped straight in to help build. Although the finished product looks great I can&rsquo;t help but feel that the face of lady liberty is abit plain by just being a flat plate, there is definitely more Lego could have added. There were a few tedious points like connecting lady liberty to the technic brick in the base and the pedastool felt repetitive at times, but the finished look by all means makes it worth it. Build time was abit longer for me as I separate all the bits out as I open a bag but could easily be done in 2 - 2 1/2 hours. Worth the price tag and worth investing in a light kit for the piece. I always wanted to try building a Lego set. I picked out the Statue of Liberty and I'm so glad I did. As a new builder, I took my time. Love the book. It talks about the history of the statue. I learn to take my time and double check my work, making sure I didn't grab the wrong Legos. Once I was done, I was very proud of it. It's now on top of my fireplace. It's about 17 inches tall and about 2 lbs when done. I'm looking forward in building more Lego kits. This set is a bit challenging with all of the small angled pieces, but the instructions are very well put together. This set was nostalgic, as I was at the statue almost 15 years ago. Very cool set, and very easy to display. The instruction booklet had really cool facts about the statue as well. However, I did not like the plate used for the face so I modified and replaced the plate with other pieces and I have to say... it really looks better than just a plate. I absolutely love this iconic symbol of America and I'm Canadian.
