I&rsquo;m fairly certain it&rsquo;s kickstarted a new collection for me! As what I would call a &lsquo;starter kit&rsquo; to the architecture range for me it&rsquo;s an all round favourite. The detail that&rsquo;s been crammed in on a small piece (in lego standards) is very good and offers a relatively easy build with easy to follow instructions. This was a gift from my girlfriend for Christmas and after I started building it I was immediately hooked on legos again! Its great for myself and others to admire the great details that went into devolving this set that replicate an actual place in this world. I have never been to London but really want to visit but am familiar with the historic sites that were used in this build. My only complaint with this build is I wish the Ferris Wheel actually moved. The design is a smart, delicate, well thought-through build to a Lego architecture set. The shapes and subtle colour schemes of the miniature buildings balance with each other perfectly. To achieve such detail on a remarkably small-scale is very impressive. Whilst the majority of the build was relatively straight forward, I found the building of the London Eye to be most tricky in terms of achieving symmetry with the 'pods' around the wheel. It's a clever design but the wheel does tend to wobble around a lot if being moved. But as it's a display piece I don't think this really matters. It's worth remembering though, that although this set is designed for observation rather than 'play', the build can be dismantled at your discretion so you can make other things with the available bricks - it is Lego after all! Its attention to detail on the rear side is the best I've seen. I thought that the construction of the London Eye was brilliant and inspired. The bridge was detailed and beautiful. However, in comparison, the National Gallery was unimpressive. Also, I had a slight problem with the 'boat' floating under the Tower Bridge, for a while I couldn't quite believe it was a boat. It really was just a little add-on that was not that great. I removed mine from the set after displaying it with my others. Finally, I was disappointed yet again with the amount of pieces going in to construct the platform. Four hundred and sixty-eight pieces seems like a lot, but when so many go into the platform, far fewer are used on the details that make these sets so special. Altogether, the set was fun to build and is beautiful. As is the case with most things, there were a few disappointments, but the set as a whole is wonderful. On the positive side, it's a nice little build, it looks good and there are some nice touches... BUT... Bits don't look finished....... The grey joining both pieces of the wheel spoil it, would be much better in white, and the wheel itself doesn't feel very secure, and I'm sure it could look much better with the right parts... Nelson would look much better with one arm less and a hat, and the base has 4 single clips which don't remotely resemble the lions.... The top of the Houses of Parliament looks weird......whatever it's resembling it doesn't..... The instructions were clear and I didn't want to stop once I started. I think it's a great landmark and Lego was in line. The only area to improve I'd suggest is the top of the wheel as it's not very rounded and the colour is questionable. Overall, great set and very pleasant experience.
