I was hella excited for this build and to have it as a piece of decor was extra legit. Loved the color scheme and the ability to customize. Highly recommend purchasing this piece of awesomeness.
Only gripe: During the last steps of the build when you are adding the stability and frame pieces, you have to flip over the assembled work twice. The piece is not entirely stable or secure at this point and flipping it by yourself can be quite a task. I would add a suggestion to the instructions that this step should be done with more than one person so as not to risk the tiles coming apart or causing injury. If that is not possible, offer solutions on how to best flip the piece by oneself. (I luckily had to 2 large thin sheets of plexi which I sandwiched the piece with to add in flipping the piece back and forth.)</span>

<span itemprop="description">When I first saw promotional photos of the World Map, I knew I had to get it. I can't tell you exactly why it appealed to me. Maybe because it is so enormous. Or maybe because it is so unique. Or maybe because it has so much potential.
I understand that the multitude of pieces included are intended to allow for creativity. But when I opened the set, I was extremely disappointed that LEGO only provided instructions for one possibility. Builders without strong free-hand mosaic skills (such as myself) need practice before branching out on our own, but I found myself struggling to squint at the picture of the "alternate oceans" version as I considered replicating it.
Therefore, it was with great joy and exhilaration that I welcomed The LEGO Group's release of two alternate instructions as free VIP rewards--one of Denmark using the original rectangular aspect ratio (but vertical, not horizontal!), and one of Europe using a rebuilt square frame!
This is exactly what The LEGO Group needed when the World Map was first released--more alternate instructions for more flexibility with the pieces provided. I was immediately inspired by these alternate models to build something completely original, but I decided to build the Denmark one first so I could get a feel for what the completed map looked like in real life.
Imagine my surprise and frustration when the PDF instructions for the alternate Denmark build didn't include numbers superimposed over the colored pieces! Not only was it extremely difficult to tell the different shades of color apart, but the original instructions didn't have this problem--only the alternate instructions! Would it really have been that difficult to add some corresponding numbers to the alternating instructions and to the bags of pieces?
After three false starts, I finally ended up utilizing the fan-made website "LEGO-Art-Remix.com" as part of a process to design a custom map of my home state in Bricklink Studio, which I then rendered photo-realistically--all without ever building the set physically!
In short, this set has failed to live up to its potential. The LEGO Group has created a good set--but they failed to make it a great set. They failed to anticipate that builders would be reluctant to invest dozens of hours into the build without a great variety of alternate builds, clear instructions, and properly-numbered bags. This product convinced me that mosaics are best built digitally to begin with, and therefore I can't recommend it to less-experienced builders or the colorblind.</span>

I was interested in building something of my own and this art set, though it’s a complete diff technic, was perfect! I like to let my imagination and bring my ideas to life and here I am.
Build exp rated as advanced only because it is tedious and you will need tons of patience. I find it relaxing but not sure others share the same opinion.
I’m not quite finished. Any ideas on what else to add next are welcomed! I might just become a blogger and create my own channel! Lol :)
It is one you can change and redo if you get bored! You can leave it black and white and display with the Titanic, as that was my original plan but overall let’s have fun with it and worry about the display later!</span>

<span itemprop="description">Personally, I got into Legos during quarantine and got hooked. This is my probably my 10th set to date. I enjoyed putting together this world map piece! It is tedious and repetitive (ex. You’re placing 10,000+ little circles on a grid) but it’s exactly as depicted on the box. Therefore, the “build” is what I expected it to be. You also have the opportunity to customize to your liking. I would suggest numbering whatever bowls/cups you use to separate the pieces. I found it easier to focus on the number pattern rather than the colors since some colors are really close. It’s also hard to remove pieces if you make a mistake. One disappointment was not having instructions for how to display the finished product on the wall. Right now it’s sitting on my floor with no idea how to hang it.</span>

However, once I opened all the bags of pieces that I received and got set up to start, I realized I was missing FOUR of the nine brick colors. Like not a single brick in those four colors necessary to do the ocean. How does that happen?? I’ve started the set with the missing pieces while waiting for a response from the missing brick department and realized they also definitely didn’t send enough of the white bricks for the land either. Cmon lego!! I’ve had my eyes on this set for forever! Pretty upset, hoping they make it right and send all the missing bricks that they forgot to include.</span>

<span itemprop="description">This was a really great build that I suggest you stretch out over multiple sessions. Built the set by first putting in the land masses (white & dark blue) at 1-2 columns (5-10 squares) per day. I didn't know how I'd put in the oceans, so I completed the entire set in about a week. Afterwards, I used the info from the box to guess how many pieces I'd need / have to complete the oceans & chose a different method than those I found online. I put in the oceans more by a climate zone theme (see photo). This involved math & sometimes guesswork. In the end, I ended up blending more colors than I originally intended, but I like the finished product. I'd like to see more creative designs displayed online for what people did with the oceans (and how they calculated colors needed).</span>

second, the box came damaged, and i like the box more than the set. i always do, i really love the boxes and have collected everyone i have ever bought, but honestly, damage of this level, how low have you stooped with quality control,
speaking of which, so many pieces for the frame are missing, well i understand that it happens, but still, it seems lego simply rushed this one
lastly, the back of the set, where all the hanging stuff and plates for support go, well its flimsy, any plate you put for support always pops off, not to mention the entire thing is so flimsy, and the hanging equipment does not seem to be enough, I'm always scared it may fall on my face when sleeping (it is hung on top of my bed in my room</span>

<span itemprop="description">1. Accidentally built the mainland Africa section twice so I ran out of white studs. Aaargh!
2. No hooks or hanging instructions.
3. No matter how firmly I squash them on when I pick it up to fasten on the wall some of the 4x4 black plates fall off the back.
Had great fun though. Brilliant wall hanging for a well travelled family.</span>

<span itemprop="description">I am a long time LEGO fan. I have sets all around my house. I am also a geography fan... so when LEGO released this map set I was stoked.
Unfortunately, just by the nature of this set, I was not impressed with this build. You spend 12+ hours reading he color pattern in the direction book and sticking on 1x1 "Circle" bricks. That's it. The build is not satisfying at all until it is complete... at which point, I will say it looks great.
Overall, the "journey" with this build was terrible, but the overall reward is very pretty to look at.
I would not recommend this set unless you have a friend or 2 to help cut down on build time. Otherwise I hope you have a ton of free time in your future because you will sure need it.</span>

<span itemprop="description">This build was definitely the most tedious build I've ever had. But, oh boy is it worth every minute put into it. It's a real conversation starter and worth the money. I actually think it comes out a bit on the cheaper side compared to everything you get out of it.</span>
