He kept asking what kind of dinosaur it was, so I read him the name on the box. That is when I noticed the age on the box said 6+ which is a bit advanced for him. He wanted to know what it did so I tried to move the pieces to turn it into another dino. I had a little trouble moving the pieces, the head did not easily stow in its compartment, I had to re-try several times to get it to fit. The pieces moved stiffly, although they loosened up the more times they were moved. My grandson was not impressed when I finally had the new dino all in place. He wanted to know what the new one's name was. I let him try to morph it back by himself, but he ended up with a mismatched dino that would not stand up and a lot of frustration. They love dinosaurs and transformers, so this was a great combination. Figuring out how to transform the toy, even with the directions, was a bit tricky as the parts are finicky how they fit together, but once you have the order down it's not difficult. My boys have enjoyed having this addition to their dinosaur collection, and they love the undercover/transforming nature of the toy. It adds a different dimension to their imaginative play. He loves Jurassic Park, Jurassic World, and Camp Cretaceous. That said, this dinosaur is more cartoon-like than the realistic dinosaurs portrayed in each of those series. My son (7) found this dinosaur mildly difficult to transform and had to look at the instructions for the first few times he switched dinos. With this one, specifically, he didn't like that the Indominous had spikes on it's belly when transformed and also the toes from the Kentrosaurus on the back of his feet. If your child is into Transformers and dinosaurs or cartoonish dinosaurs, he/she will enjoy this toy. For my son, this toy won't be joining the ever-growing pack of realistic dinos that he plays with daily.
