He loves the large size, the many points of articulation (in the neck, arms, legs, and even tail), and the open/close mouth feature. My son actually has one of the older t-rex models from a few years ago and this latest model is a definite improvement in terms of the articulation--there is a greater range of movement and stability with the toy--doesn't fall over. The toy is also pretty durable and can withstand my son's dinosaur &quot;battles&quot; (e.g. accidental drops and banging against his other dinosaur toys). My son's only wish is that the toy had a voice box so that it can roar. My oldest had selected this toy as he thoroughly enjoys anything to do with dinosaurs. Not having read the description I was quite surprised at it's actual size when it showed up. My son absolutely loves this dinosaur and within minutes of receiving it he had it out of the packaging and was playing with it. Our youngest, while scared of it at first (which I can't blame her as her first experience with it was that of being chased by it thanks to her big brother) has also taken a liking to the dinosaur and can often be found playing with it if her brother is not. On to the quality of the toy. In general I'm a fan of it's construction. The way it is put together allows for a pretty free range of motion in any of the joints. The mechanism to control the chomping seems solid as well. My chief complaints are the fact that feet rotate a full 360 degrees at the ankle, exactly where a claw exists, leaving it odd if you look at it, even if you're not doing something like turning the foot completely around. My other complaint is that while the joints allow for a great range of motion, it does not seem there is enough friction to keep the appendages where you actually want them. For example, if the spinosaurus was to be in a more upright position, it quickly falls back to a crouched position due to it's own weight. Now, if this is an actual design issue or not I cannot say for certain, because before I was able to inspect it for my review the spinosaurus had already gone &quot;swimming&quot; in a pond and also had appendages (at least a tail) removed and reattached a few times. His favorite part is the teeth, they are super realistic and very sharp. The tail is a bit flimsy, though, and it detached rather easily. I was expecting a small dinosaur and was pleasantly suprised with how big it was. The colors and features are very realistic and my son loves that it can open and close its mouth to chomp. With the right positioning of the feet, it can stand on it's own as well, which is a huge plus. The materials it's made of are pretty nice and it's constructed really well and should last a long time. The spinosaurus is a great addition to his collection of dinosaurs. It&rsquo;s about the same size as the roaring trex and great quality. You can press the button and he&rsquo;ll open his mouth to chomp on another dinosaur or human. The only cons I can see is that sometimes he&rsquo;s hard to get his feet positioned to stand up and not fall over. It is great to have a figure finally. My son was excited to play with it and models it on his shelf. It is scaled correctly with the other Mattel dinos. It is larger than the rex. It operates the same way too. The nice thing we get from Mattel is the quality of the molds. Their toys look far better than anything before. I own all the original Kenner dinos from JP and LW with just one exception since I was a child. My red rexy is on display in my game room. No Kenner did not look this accurate to the movies, and yes originally followed the clay models for the movie. Mattel has done such a stellar job that these figures that they can look right at home on a display shelf. Spino is no different, and unlike the excellent old Kenner toys JP3 was handled or rather misshandled by Hasbro. So this is the first time you can even buy a decent Spinosaurus. Great job Mattel.
