It has three different modes to play: Wild, Play and Train. It will interact with you with touch and makes many different sounds. If you learn the different techniques to train the dino, it will respond to you. For instance, tapping on the head three times makes our dino play music and dance! The eyes turn red, blue, and yellow for the different modes. This is a pretty fun toy that my boys will enjoy for a long time. There are three different modes and his favorite is wild, while mine is play. There are four touch sensors on its head and in wild mode it does not respond correctly. I like play mode which is like playing an electronic lights memory game, but instead of pressing buttons, you touch sensors. We both love the different colors it&rsquo;s eyes change. There is an on/off switch, but no volume control. Granted they are a bit loud, but still really cool. The 3 different play modes that are color coded by the eyes are his favorite. The dino is essentially a robot with sensors on the top, bottom, left and right sides of it's head. Those sensors are used in it's three modes of play: Wild Mode, Play Mode, and Training Mode. In Wild Mode the dino won't respond correctly to your commands (touching the sensors) until you've tamed it by quickly tapping the top of it's head 3 times. This causes it to become friendly (it's eyes change from red to green) and follow your directions... until it decides to turn wild again! In Play Mode the dino will move in an increasingly more complex pattern and you have to touch the sensors in the same order as it's movements. Mess up and it chomps at you (not as scary as it sounds). In Training Mode, the dino will follow up to six commands in the order you touch the sensors. This tends to be the mode my kids have enjoyed most. In fact, they figured out that if you tap the top sensor six times in a row, the dino dances and plays music. It seems to be a bit of an Easter egg and my kids have been trying to see if any other combinations do similar things. My only real complaint is that the dino is pretty loud and definitely could have benefited from a volume switch. I'm guessing the level of volume is to mask the mechanical sounds the dino makes as it moves. The Ultimate Fire Dino is a fun little toy, but time will tell if it's something my kids will play with frequently or not. It's one of those toys where you have to look at the functionality and decide whether its something that will capture your kid's imagination. She did seem disappointed that it doesn&rsquo;t walk around on its own (kids are getting more and more used to robotic toys, I guess), but once she (we) figured out how to make it &ldquo;dance,&rdquo; the rest of the modes didn&rsquo;t matter to her, at this point. The toy is a good size and looks impressive (it&rsquo;s not &ldquo;movie accurate,&rdquo; but that is not the goal of the Uncaged line). The glowing eyes look awesome and change colors depending on the mode. It hasn&rsquo;t been in-use (other than for repeated dancing) long enough to tell how it&rsquo;ll hold up. However, it feels solid. The touch sensors work well, although it did sometimes seem to react randomly or change modes on its own. 6 year-old wasn&rsquo;t too interested in learning all the instructions at this point, but was happy to play with the toy and sort of figure it out as she went. The movement responses are, obviously, a key feature of the toy and they look really cool. I&rsquo;m not also not sure how long it will continue to hold play interest. It feels more like a novelty than something she&rsquo;ll regularly play with over time. An interactive dino is even better!! The Pyroraptor is a welcome addition to their expansive dinosaur collection. You can play with it in three different modes (wild, play and tame). You know which mode you're in by the color of its eyes. You can tame the dinosaur by giving it commands and reach levels through these training sessions. You know you reach a new level because it plays a level achieved noise. The Pyroraptor has various sensors on its face that allows for various interactions and endless possibilities. The only negative I have to say is that the gears inside the toy are rather loud. Maybe its just the one we received or its all of them. But for me, it slightly takes away from the play experience. My boys werent bothered by it at all. Lastly, my oldest said he wished it would have walked a little. But they had plenty of fun without legs that moved on their own.
