I love that this is a standalone toy and I did not need to buy other sets to make it fun. My kids love that it came with two new cars and that it is the same track material as the other sets. They can use the these tracks other sets as well (these ones are blue with striped that we did not previously have!)! The only downside to the set is that the heavier hot wheels cars do not work well. They make it partway up the loop and then fall. The older kids were completely fine with it. They just put them in a pile so they knew which ones worked. The younger kids didn&rsquo;t understand as well. All the kids were able to work the launcher which was great! This was their first set, but not the first ones they have played with. We loved the starting sign, which actually drops to do a count down. The loop was great, and the cars cross over the tracks, which was neat. Our favorite part was the end of the track. When a car reached it, it hits a little piece that is placed there and then you can tell who actually won the race! Though with how much fun we had i feel like we all won. I set it up at my 3 year old daughter room and she loves it. She uses it with multiple cars and some make it and some dont as not all cars are meant for track. The best part about it is that it has a checkered flag that determines which car crossed first. Hot Wheels never misses a detail and this new set is no exception. We have an extensive Hot Wheels collection and this can very easily be integrated into the tracks, vehicles, and sets that we have. However, we were also very impressed with how complete it is by itself. This would make a great gift for someone who is new to Hot Wheels as well as the avid fan! We had no problems assembling and it was ready to go in a few minutes. Once assembled, the track is over 6 feet long, making for hours of fun drag racing. The set comes with two cars which are perfect for racing and doing stunts. You set the vehicles in the launch station and pull the traffic light signal to the top of the station. When you let go, the lights drop to the bottom and you press the launch buttons. The cars speed through a vertical loop, criss-cross in the middle, and blast through the finish line. There is a checkered flag that falls to the side of the winner who arrived first. The flag at the finish line is a very cool feature, and very helpful since the cars go so fast you might miss who the winner is. If the cars happen to crash in the middle, that is pretty fun as well. One car may get sent backwards while the other races forward, and this adds a fun and exciting element to the race. The starting lights jiggle down, and when the lights are green, the gate opens and the two racers can push the rubber-band-powered launchers. If both cars make it through the loop, usually only one makes it through the &quot;crash zone&quot; where the tracks cross. The first car to the end triggers the checkered flag, which falls over its track, so it's obvious who won the race. On the other hand, one kid can have a good time racing two cars (or just one at a time). The whole design of the track set is clever, so you get a fair race without any electronics. The loops have a stabilizer which means that the cars keep their speed better than some other simpler loop designs, and this makes the set more fun. When you put the set together, make sure that the &quot;crash zone&quot; piece is in the right direction -- before discovering our mistake, our cars didn't make it through. Even though the set has the &quot;Ultra Hots&quot; name, it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the Ultra Hots cars. Our set came with the Fast Fish and Torque Twister cars, which aren't very special or matched by weight. As a result, our kids had a great time trying out lots of different cars to see which were the fastest. If you can get 3 people to play, two can race and one can reset the finish line and send the cars back to the start. Another cool thing about the set is that the tracks are really nice: they're 16-inches long and have high sides and red and white stripes, so they're a big step up from the typical orange track. With the same connectors, you can combine this set with other tracks. I think the design of the launch and finish were great for little hands and big ones. The release buttons were not too hard to press and the finishing flag was easy to reset. However, the track design as shown didn&rsquo;t seem to work for us. The cars wouldn&rsquo;t make it around the loop. We removed a set of track from each side as well as the the &ldquo;x&rdquo; and the cars flew around the loops and to the finish line without any issues. We removed the &ldquo;x&rdquo; so they wouldn&rsquo;t always crash. It&rsquo;s fun when it&rsquo;s in place but my little guy really just wanted them to race. I would still recommend the set as it&rsquo;s so easy to set up and it does provide fun.
