My son loved that the color of the car changed from hot water to cold water and back. Unfortunately, the change didn't last. After 5 days of the car sitting outside of water, only half the car had changed back to its original color. We have been giving him a bowl of ice water at bath time and he likes to pretend the color shifter cars are doing jumps into it. I like that the color shifters are designed at the size of the regular Hot Wheels cars, allowing them to be used on the Hot Wheels track. The car does not seem as well made as other Hot Wheels. The 4 year old enjoyed playing with it in the same way he plays with his other Hot Wheels. He liked to see the color change. The instructions say to put the car in hot or cold water to change the color but I was not a fan of letting him put it in and out of the water. Instead of cold water we put it in the freezer and the color changed in less than 2 minutes with less mess. We took a small plastic container and filled it with ice water and it changed colors instantly. I had a separate container with warm water and when I put the car that was previously put in cold water, into the warm, it changed back instantly as well. I was surprised that the change was instant and even if you don't put it in warm water, the color does last longer than expected but will change back if you rub it long enough. The quality of the car is just like any other Hot Wheel vehicle and it appears to be made pretty well.
