After an assembly time of about 45 minutes, we were raring to go. My six year old was eager to help with stickers but some placements are difficult to reach. Once assembled, we discovered that we did not have the four D batteries that were required so we had to wait a couple hours before heading to the store. Dad to the rescue when he got home the work and off we went. This game captured our six year old and was able to hold his attention (and ours) for a solid two hours. I had to quit after about 15-minutes as the frenzy of the track and the vast number of other HW cars this track could handle had my head spinning. My son went through every single HW car that we owned and discovered about 20 other cars that did well, the motorcycles, however, did not (but, like I said, he tried every one of them!). After a week of use, this track remains a favorite go-to when waiting for the next thing, like Mom getting ready for church, going to the bus, etc. We have also had a couple sleep-overs and it&rsquo;s been a hit with every young man who comes to stay (and a couple ol&rsquo; geezers, too)! PROS: &bull; Realistic representations of game-related achievements. &bull; Works well with other HW cars, including the Mario and Luigi collectors set cars. (Toad, not so much be he looks good sitting in his house!) &bull; Works well with Hot Wheels City sets through well-thought-out and designed on/off ramps &bull; Flag Counters allow for a five lap race or continuous racing. CONS: &bull; Of the two obstacle buttons, the red one broke within the first hour of play. This &ldquo;mushroom&rdquo; button is designed to send an opponent into a dungeon. You whack it a bunch of times when the opponent gets close. &bull; Item takes up A LOT of floor space and is not easily moved from one place to the next. I will be gluing the based with two movable joints so that it can be more easily carried/transported from living room to dining room by my six year old. Overall, the quality of plastic is outstanding, the hours of play offered is amazing, and the adaptability of the track to fit other HW Accessories is stupendous. I can&rsquo;t wait to purchase the other two add-ons, the other four cars and to see what&rsquo;s coming up next in the future. Way too many stickers to put on 2. The battery operated booster is super loud 3. I don&rsquo;t like the smashing of the button to get it started it just adds to the overly loud booster (my husband is hearing impaired &amp; he was even getting annoyed at the noise) 4. It can be cumbersome to put together, takes quite a bit of space for only a few minutes of play. But... The bad out of the way first. The track is heavy which can lead to the track breaking if you move it with disassembling it. The tracks should be thicker, and since they are not it leads to a lot of flex which can cause the cars to crash. The good. The cars are great, the shell button to make your oppent crash is a neat addition, the track itself looks great, thanks to the propeller the cars move very fast easily though it is loud, and there are addons. Speaking of addons you have to buy both which is strange they are not bundled to make this work as one. This is a really cool idea, hurt by a few poor design decisions. If this had a thicker plastic track this woud be a 5 star. Usually, if it's not a video game, he would lose interest fairly quickly. He actually went back to play with this track on multiple days. I wrongly assumed that this would be just another set of hot wheel track that would sit in our basement after initially playing with it, but he is still playing with it days after receiving it. It was very easy to set up. In fact, my son did everything (except the batteries) on his own. Took him about an hour to set up. He says what he like the most is that he can both race with other people or play with it by himself. Track seems sturdy and so far it has held up to many hours of playtime. The additional tracks and race cars have already made it on to his Christmas wish list. The set itself is cute and easy to put together. Yoshi and Mario cars are included. We had fun the first hour... (so the set was properly built) but Mario stopped &ldquo;working&rdquo; and began to fall off one part of the track specially, without making more than a round and a half. Yoshi zipped along happily. But THEN yoshi started to do the same thing! It feels like the cars started to lose momentum and couldn&rsquo;t maintain their speed after the motorized boost. This was all within the first two days of play. My thought was &ldquo;maybe the battery was been depleted already?&rdquo; But that would be crazy for it to only last a couple days and it still seemed strong. I&rsquo;m sad because of the price point, it being our most anticipated purchase (we all love Mario/Nintendo too) and the longevity and performance. It&rsquo;s not worth the disappointed of teary kids complaining &ldquo;the cars just keep falling off!&rdquo; We had to contact Hot Wheels, who - kudos to them - have great customer support, and they are going to reimburse us and provide a couple of cars (no Mario characters but that&rsquo;s ok, we had to send back the motor so they could reimburse us. So we don&rsquo;t have the set anymore.) I still wanted to share my feedback because I truly feel this particular product needs a bit more thought. Set it up without and used it for less than 1 hour, come back another day and notice the track is disconnected because it broke underneath. Can not exchange at the store now because i threw out the huge box. Unfortunately, he hasn&rsquo;t even had it for a week and one of the long tracks (part of the loop) is broken. Searched for the spare part everywhere and can&rsquo;t find it. My kids weren&rsquo;t playing with it excessively roughly but hoping at least it would last a few weeks.
