Not only are they Hot Wheels fans (I'm not sure how many of those cars we have in our house), but they love Mario as well. What I found most appealing about the Mario Kart Circuit Track Set is that it came with two of the character vehicles, and two track lines so that they could play with it together. In that respect, it did not disappoint. They are able to choose their vehicles (even select from our previously existing collection), and race each other. The booster mechanism is a bit on the loud side, so I wouldn't recommend this for a quiet activity, but it keeps the cars flying around the track, which has been highly entertaining for my boys. While it takes a pretty big chunk of space to have set up and running, I do appreciate the fact that it is designed to break down easily for storage and reconfiguration if you want to add other components to it. The track pieces are both flexible and durable. Cars do come off the track relatively easily, so that can be somewhat of a frustration, but it is typically a matter of readjusting the track slightly and hitting the button to release the cars with the right amount of force. My boys are obsessed with racing each other and playing for hours at a time with it. If you like the video game Mario Cart, this is perfect for your kiddos. You can race as Mario or Yoshi. They race on quality made die-cast kart vehicles. There are obstacles and challenges, just like the video game! You load the carts into the launchers and turn on booster to launch into action. There is an inverted loop on the track which makes it even more fun! The funnest thing though, is the obstacles that are green shells to knock off your opponent. There are lap-counting flags and a booster. Just such a fun set for Mario lovers. He is 6 years old and loves this track set. It wasn't hard to set up and took no time at all. After it was set up, we never had any problems with it falling apart at all. Even after his two year old sister was playing with it, it stayed together just fine. She actually loved it too! My six year old son had no problems shooting off the cars with the launcher. Sometimes it did fall off the track but he would just hit it harder and had no problems or frustrations at all. However, younger ones might have a bit of difficulty. There is the powered booster that the cars go thru, and my kids preferred to start the cars there, rather than launching them anyways. All in all, this is a great set. I highly recommend it if you have a big Mario fan. Since we set it up my son has declared it his favorite toy. We&rsquo;ve tested other cars on the track, we&rsquo;ve added track from another Hot Wheels set to make additional obstacles, and we showed it to their uncle via video chat who said it was &ldquo;dope&rdquo; and was obviously jealous. One of the tracks doesn&rsquo;t seem to work as well as the other one-the car seems to fly off the track more often and we can&rsquo;t figure out why. He set to work assembling it himself immediately--he's 7 and it took him about an hour to completely put together without any adult help or supervision, so I'm assuming an adult on their own could put it together quicker than that. Once we tracked down the 4 D batteries required for play, he spent the next several hours happily racing Mario and Yoshi around the track. He did take frequent breaks as this set is quite loud, even by his standards. Loved the Mario theme. The track did take a little time to assemble probably would have went quicker but the kids were impatiently waiting. The cars move super quick on the track but do eventually fly off the track around the corners- best idea is to play with it on the floor. We had it on the dining room table and the cars were flying off and bouncing across the floor. The kids enjoyed trying to see whose car could be the fastest. The button you have to hit so your car starts moving on the track was a little to close to the the track- sometimes your fingers would get hit if the other persons car was still moving on the track. Not to hard to put together, my 10 year old did it, just make sure you follow directions so the curve pieces go in the right spots on both ends. Its nice you can use the mario cars that come with it or any hot wheel track car. The cars do fall off the track sometimes but nothing that ruined the entire play experience or happend all the time. This set arrived while I was on a Zoom meeting. My 8 year old was so thrilled that he set up the whole set by himself. He only needed help putting in the batteries. 5 Stars for ease of set up. My kids love the fact that the set merges effortlessly with the other cars and set pieces in the Hot Wheels family. 5 stars for Playability. As a mom I love that the set grabs their imagination and let's them creatively play. My kids have played with it every day since it arrived - it really seems to hold their attention. All in all another amazing execution from Hot Wheels made even better by blending it with the Mario Kart franchise! It was fairly easy to put together and we were able to get playing pretty quickly. It takes a few tries to get the right button pushing force to get the cars all the way to the shooter without them flinging off the track. The track needs to be on a pretty hard flat surface to work correctly. We had it on the carpet and had some problems with the cars flying off the track. The characters are just like the video game and the racing is smooth once you get them going. You need a grownup to help you to put it together and get it out of the box. Pushing down on the button to get the race started was hard. You have to slam on it to get the cars going.
