Though the characters were small, she loved the over concept of the toy. One side had two levels (oven on the bottom actually opens up) and the counter on top swings out. The seesaw seats were a nice touch. The one thing that made me not love it 100% is that the mug didn&rsquo;t fit inside the cupcake and whipped topping barely fit. She was excited to have a little set of drawing/writing materials that not only could she use when we went on a car ride, but also would create a world for her to play in. She loved the pencil and paper (and the various places to hold them). The pencil toppers were a big hit as well. She created a menu and was able to carry it with the case and use in within her play. Our only complaint was for there to be a little more engagement on certain aspects. The big green cake stand doesn&rsquo;t do much, and the oven opens up, but my daughter was sad that a little tray of baked goods didn&rsquo;t pop out. She was hoping the two characters could do something else (at least one other thing), besides just sit. Following the directions printed on the inside of the blister pack, she was able to complete the minor assembly of the hinge and pencil clip independently. She loves the details of the set, including the seesaw table and the My Melody character hidden inside the teacup. She has also delighted in the Hello Kitty memo pad, using the pencil included in the set to make the character show different emotions on different pages, even giving her a headset microphone or an eyepatch. I think if the little peg on the bottom of the cup was smaller (or not there at all), My Melody would not get stuck. The only downside is that we are already out of paper! One thing that was super frustrating was the character that can hide in a cup with the cupcake hat got stuck every time we put it in. My girls ( 6 and 7) have really enjoyed playing with this toy. They love how it opens up into a little play set and they can play kitchens with the little characters and their other little toys. On top of that the characters also fit on top of pencils for cute little pencil heads which you can use with the little cat shaped notepad that comes with it. My girls love that it comes with a little clip they can attach to their back pack and take it out with them. They especially like to play with it when travelling in the car. For the price I think it is a great product and worth the price it is advertised.
