Unfortunately, once you charge it up (this takes around 30 mins), it flies up to the ceiling where it tends to stay until it hits a wall. It is shown to be controlled by placing your hand underneath it whilst it flies but it just shoots off and has a mind of its own. The lack of control makes this toy dangerous. My six year old girl was frightened as it careened around the living room. You put your hand underneath it to keep it in the air as it doesn&rsquo;t come with a remote which is better. It doesn&rsquo;t take batteries, it comes with a lead to charge it which is great! Overall very happy with this toy! It is relatively quick to charge up and is sturdy enough to withstand crashing into walls. The Hatchimals Rainbow Crystal Flyer comes in a crystal egg which can be used as a display case. The doll is charged with the included USB charger. When she is fully charged and switched on her dress has lights and her wings begin to spin. The doll has a built in sensor so you can use your hands to guide her when she is in flight. If you lift your hands up she flies higher and put your hands lower and she flies lower. The crystal flying rainbow pixie is presented inside a large plastic clear crystal designed egg, which is ideal for storing her in and has the USB charger attached at the bottom, the design of the egg is wonderful and adds to the magic of the pixie. The pixie doll is beautiful, bright, colorful and glittery with her rainbow dress and glittery wings my daughter, who is 6, fell instantly in love with her. The flying pixie takes about 30 minutes to charge and from that you get around 10 minutes of playtime. The charging connection was easily for my daughter to attach and do herself. Once switched on the doll lights up and her wings flutter and then she pulls away from your hand. You can have the pixie on the base of her egg to fly from or your hand, either way there&rsquo;s plenty of power to lift the doll and see her magically dance and spin away with her pixie power. To control the pixie flyer you can put your hand underneath her and aim her in the direction you want her to go in, so hand higher encouragers her to go higher, or hand lower for her to fly lower. After a few attempts my daughter soon learnt how to navigate her herself and was soon laughing with amazement. So with a little bit of practice I can&rsquo;t see anyone having any issues with controlling the rainbow pixie. The doll is well constructed, as naturally we&rsquo;ve had a few crashes whilst she&rsquo;s been played with, we tuned her on and off which reset her and she was ready to fly again, I&rsquo;m impressed at how durable the doll is! They not-so-patiently waited for the battery to be charged. Then we went into our spare room and tried it out. It was initially very exciting to play with. After a couple turns each flying the toy, they were happy to move onto another activity and haven't asked to play with it again since. The packaging is very glittery and pink but there sure is a a lot of unnecessary additional plastic packaging. Contents: Hatchimals Pixies Crystal Flyer, USB charging cable and display case this is great as it doesn't require batteries Hatchimals Pixies can really fly and is beautifully detailed with glittery wings. You can launch her from the base or lift her into the air or use your hands to guide her flight. The power her wings get is actually pretty impressive and on a hot day it can double as a portable fan ( In alI seriousnes I do NOT recommend doing that but the wings are very powerful. The flyer get good height but it becomes clear very quickly this toy is NOT suitable for apartments it needs quite a bit of space and even then can hit walls if you're not quick to guide it with your hand. The instructions say that you can touch her wings mid-flight for auto-stop but with the power of her wings that may be tricky for some children to do without their fingers getting hit by the spinning wings. The display egg is beautiful and when not in use can display and store your Crystal Flyer in her crystal egg. Setting up is a breeze. Was able to use with minimal instructions. She felt the start up button is kind of not user friendly and stopping the toy doll was another issue she didnt like. Once the start button is pressed the toy doll take couple of second to start which is kind of good. It was entertaining to see the toy doll float and flutter. It did however bump in wall or furniture. Slight bump caused it to loose the motion or balance and fall hard in the floor. This is something I feel makes the doll more vulnerable to breakage considering the toy doll body is light. She flies up and around the room. We had to be careful that she doesn't crash into any walls. If she gets close, you can gently grab her and move her. It flew straight up in the air and bobbed about. It would hover over my daughter's hand just as the instructions said it would. This toy worked great and kept my daughter giggling with joy as we tried it out. It is super easy and fast to charge. As it flew, it bumped the cupboard and wall but there wasn't a mark on anything including the toy.
