To my suprise it also makes a very unique nightlight. It has an auto off feature and cuts on when it's dark and will cut off when it is light again...saving battery/electricity. It can be very portable using 4 "C" batteries to operate, or you can keep it more stationary and plug it in. It doesn't turn on its on...it also doesn't "spin fast" like other globes...which honestly is fun for all of us, but it keeps my kids from playing with it like a toy. When it is lit up at night it shows all the zodiac and much more which is neat since my daughter has been very interested in that stuff lately. Overall I love the design, look, and functionality of it and my 4 kids do as well!

The light is dim but I think it’s appropriate as a nightlight. There is a switch to turn the nightlight feature on and off. When there is light, it is a regular globe that shows a map of the world with the name of the countries and capitals and major cities. It’s a good educational toy for kids!</span>

The only draw backs are that it's corded so that can be a tripping hazard and it doesn't spin easily as i was expecting. My kids (4 and 6) both thoughtit was a really cool toy and are looking up in the night sky more now to see what's on their globe.</span>

It has a battery or plug in option that enables the globe to light up with star constellations in the dark. Any kid interested in the world and constellations would love this globe.</span>

During the night the color-changing LED lights are both educational and decorative, and can be used as a night light, displayed in your childs room. The globes built-in automatic sensor detects darkness. You can plug in the wall or use batteries. I thought it was a more interactive toy but the only thing is that the light turns on at night.</span>

<span itemprop="description">[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a family that travels a lot and have relatives that live in so many countries, I was very excited to receive this globe to show my kids (3 and 6 yrs old) where we had traveled and where they all live. But it ended up being a little disappointing. Let's start with pros: I like the idea of a globe for kids, it's a great resource for learning. The globe shows countries, capitals, and other major cities. For US and Canada it also has names of states. When it's dark enough the globe will glow and show constellations, another opportunity to learn and also can be used as a night light. Cons: I wish it would spin smoothly, but my biggest problem with the globe is that between 15° and 0 the proportions aren't equal on both sides of Equador line, and it makes counties in this area look disproportionate. Other sad thing is that many countries are colored in blue, making they look like lakes/seas. That's so basic.. you don't color countries with the same color as water. If I had bought it I would return it and exchange for something more precise to teach my kids.</span>
