They are 18 months old and have NEVER slept through the night. In fact for the last three nights they have both slept through the night and we know this will continue as long as we keep this on throughout the night. Although it is a smart connect and you can adjust the effects, turn it off, etc. through the night, we just keep it on. As I rock my son in his chair before putting him to bed, he is so excited to see the stars on the ceiling. We have chosen the music option and stars and feel this is our magical mixture to get them to sleep. I have been and am going to recommend this to EVERYONE I know that is pregnant and those with young kids who are having difficulty sleeping at night. I recommend this product a million percent! As far as durability goes, our little ones have dropped it multiple times and it is still working great. Since my older son was a baby, he used a star and moon projector to go to sleep. However, it took up a lot of space on his dresser so when given this product for my 18 month old, I was happy to get rid of the old one and replace it with a much smaller one. It's also a bonus that it makes music as well so I can have one product to replace the light projector and my baby's mobile. They both love it and it's so easy for my 4 year old to pick the sounds he wants to hear and what lights he wants to see. I love that it is paired with an app so I can adjust it or turn it off after they fall asleep. It definitely does its job in soothing them both to sleep. I also love how you can adjust the brightness of all 3 lights because sometimes my 4 year old wants the star projector and the animal projector on, which can be very bright together, but I can adjust them so it's still very dim at night. The only reason I do not give 5 stars is because I wish it came with more traditional lullabies like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Rock A Bye Baby, etc. It really is amazing though to have lights, sounds, and music all in one product that can be controlled from my phone from any room in the house. I like how many different types of noises / songs you can choose from and the option to turn the lights on and off. Many white noise machines shut off after a selected time which is a problem when you need continuous white noise for your child so that was one big selling feature of this. We did encounter some problems with the app and it syncing but after a while it eventually worked well. Lately it's been malfunctioning more and more...tonight it's been changing sounds and the lights for the last 20 minutes! Being connected to the app on my phone doesn't help...I try to change it back to the settle-soothe-sleep mode, and the device just changes back to all the different sounds/songs in rapid succession. This works wonders! My husband and I love how you can change the songs/lights from our phones. She sleeps with the brown noise on continuously. When she woke up I turned on the star projection. 2 minutes later the animal projection randomly turned on (which is bright) so I frantically turned it off back to brown noise and star projection. 2 minutes later the noise randomly changed to the womb noise. I changed it back to back to brown noise and star projection. 1 minute later the settling music turned on... this thing has a creepy mind of its own! This is all in the manuals Mose as I find the auto matrix modes useless since you cant change the volume of each mode and the music is much too high compared to the brown or pink noise. If you don't get the app it's not user friendly. He woke almost hourly every night since he was born. He was difficult to soothe and often required nursing and rocking for 20 minutes (sometimes up to two hours) before being able to fall back asleep. We were always given a new 'try this' from the paediatrician that never worked and despite having a perfect sleeping 3 year old, we felt like we were failing. Incredibly sleep deprived, frustrated and feeling like we were at rock bottom, we purchased this product randomly. Honestly, this product was a lifesaver for us and I couldn't be more thankful! The first night he would fall back asleep on his own without us entering his room at all within 2-5 minutes of the soother turning on. Night two, he only woke twice all night from 7pm-7am. I would recommend this product to everyone. Especially those that have tried everything and are feeling hopeless... get your sanity back and try this product! Thank you fisher price!
