I think that it would be a little too young for a five year old. I was not expecting the fire to light up and sing songs. My daughter was so excited to receive it! She enjoyed roasting marshmallows and singing, and then putting the person to bed. She even danced and jumped around with the music. I love how it gets her imagination going. The one thing that frustrated her was the blanket. It is small but so much fun. It has a lot packed in the little piece. It is very easy to pack to take somewhere or to put in a toy box as it takes up hardly any space. I appreciate that it was three easy snips with scissors and the toy was free of the packaging. I also appreciate that while the toy has sounds, none of the noises and sounds are annoying. They're actually quite charming and I found myself pushing the button repeatedly to hear them. My 2 year old loved being able to lay the little person in the bed and having a functional blanket to be able to cover the little person was a perfect addition. It also comes with a marshmallow on a stick and a little fire pit, the fire pit makes noises when it is pressed down. This toy entertained my son for a good while as he alternating between having the little person press down on the fire for the sounds and covering it up with the blanket to sleep. It is the perfect size for car rides and on the go as it can fit in a small backpack as well. We have almost every one of them. So I was excited to see that there were some new ones out! Most of them are bigger so these smaller ones are great for those spaces that you just can&rsquo;t fit large toys. Just because it&rsquo;s small the quality is not compromised. It&rsquo;s built as well as the larger sets. My son loves tucking the little person into the bed and roasting the marshmallows over the fire that lights up! It also makes sounds!
