I won't take it on outdoors. It's a pretty typical rc car, and is low to the ground so it does need to be on a flat surface. It's got a good range as far as how far it can reach away from the remote I would say at least 150 feet. There is a button on the remote for a quick boost and it actually does give the car a boost. Battery life is good. We didn't run it out but I know my son played with it at least 30 min and battery was going strong. I live that the car doesn't need batteries, it has a cord to plug it in. The remote does need batteries though.
