While it seems like a great seat, I will have to wait until my daughter needs a front facing seat to try it out. The seat will not fit in either of our vehicles if used rear facing. It is not anywhere close to fitting because it is so big. You have to lean the front seat up as far as it will go to get it to fit, making the front seat impossible to sit in. If installed front facing, it fits just fine. We have very average sized SUVs and I am surprised that a seat this nice would not be made to fit in such a common vehicle. It was given to me through a program that helps low income families with car seats that are in need of assistance. My son is 11 months old, 19 pounds and 28 and a half inches tall. He is a tiny guy. First, installing the seat was pretty straight forward. I drive a PT Cruiser so it's a small car. It fits well in the middle seat, but sometimes my niece rides with me in her infant carrier, so the car seat needs to be moved to the side for them to fit in backseat properly and the front seat needs to be moved forward a lot and be set almost straight up in order to not interfere with this car seat. I also struggled to get the seat tight enough. I really had to work to get the latch pulled tight enough for me to feel safe about using it. In the end I find I had to fold the front seat down and get behind the seat to push and pull on the strap. Because of the tightness it was nearly impossible for me to loosen the latch on it when I had to move the seat again. I received the one with no button. I just have to kind of pull on the black thing and push it towards the latch until it finally gives some slack. (No, it wasn't over tightened either, it still moved about half an inch from side to side at the belt line.) So, my son hates all car seats. This one is no different. I love the padding. I love the colors. I don't like the crotch snap. I have to push really hard to get the left buckle to snap in. I don't like the straps. If I am not extremely careful, they bite into his neck. I have to make sure to pull his shirt up between the strap and his neck and sometimes have to pull over and fix it as I am driving and he is screaming. I also have great dislike for the head pillow. It's not firm, it's floppy. With my son being small, his head doesn't really reach the sides to lean against them if he falls asleep and as a result, his head kind of falls onto his shoulder and slightly forward making me need to pull over and place a receiving blanket under his head to keep it in safer place. Also because he is so small we do use the other insert as well to keep him from sliding around but he still drifts over to the side instead of sitting upright, though he can sit up on his own for a long period of time. I wish the sides of both the pillow and bottom insert were thicker to keep him more in place. I don't really feel safe with him in this car seat yet and I can only imagine what it would be like to have a baby 5lbs in it. I don't think I would recommend this car seat for a smaller child like my son. While I like that this car seat gives him a lot of room to grow, I actually expect it will expire before he out grows it which is fairly disappointing. I was ok with dealing with the hassle bc the center is the safest place in the car for a baby, but I was unable to pull the harness tight enough! I could get it to a certain point &amp; then it wouldn't budge! My husband is able to pull it tight enough but I tried using both hands and pulling as hard as I could and I was never able to get it tight enough for my 9 month old. My step daughter is.31 inches tall, and 34lbs. She was front facing in a cosco high back booster. That was a seat recommended for children 40lbs and higher. She hated that seat, and whenever she fell asleep in the car her head would flop to the side in incredibly painful ways. Although we haven't had this seat very long, we are both very glad that we purchased it. It fits nicely in the middle back seat of a 2011 Nissan Sentra. I didn't have any issues with installation - seems very secure, with almost no wiggle. And the straps were super easy to adjust, which can be a difficult thing to do with many carseats. I can still fit both of my older children's high back booster seats on each side. While it is a tight fit all seats install snuggly and correctly. Our little guy is very comfortable and will have no problem staying rear facing until at least 2 years old.
