I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Evenflo NurtureMax Infant Car Seat product considering the low price point. No matter the actual cost safety is my top priority, this carseat certainly put my nervousness at ease. It was easy to install in my car, the base makes it so quick and painless. We also have grandparents that watch baby, so ease for them is a high priority. The cover was easy to wash, which is a necessity for me and my baby that tends to spit-up regularly. My baby was very comfortable in the seat, the angle was great for her and helped her sleep in the car. As a new mom who is used to lugging 30 lbs of carseat and baby from my 2nd floor apartment all the way down to my car, having a carseat that is only 6lbs is a very welcome change that has made getting out of the house much easier. As for the design of this carseat I feel like it is a little cheap looking and doesn't seem as sturdy as others I've seen, but it is still nice. The handle is adjustable, which I like, but it is a little difficult to adjust because the button is so small. The anti-rebound base is a great safety feature that helps give me more peace of mind. Installation was not that bad, but could have been more user friendly. The strap used to lock the carseat into the car could have been longer. I also wish it would have had an actual level gauge on the side, rather than just a line. It takes a little bit of practice to put the seat into the base but once you do it a few times it is pretty easy and because it is so lightweight it is relatively effortless to get in and out of the car. My favorite thing about this carseat was that it is so lightweight, easy to maneuver, and that my baby seems comfortable and enjoys riding in it. Was it the worst seat l, no, but it definitely wasn't great. I will start with pros. It is super light weight, even with the base so that was cool! I also like that it could be used for tiny babies! I think having adjustable hip belt slots was cool and a great idea. I like that you CAN do a j loop with the crotch buckle and that there are 4 shoulder strap placements available. Also all of this are easy to adjust! That's it though. Getting the sit in and out of the base was not just an easy one click ordeal. Having the get the seat under the little hook at the right angle to still be able to get it clicked in was not as easy as it should have been and then getting it out was just as awkward! I think the idea of a one handed handle adjustment is great, but this one just missed the convince mark. I struggled getting it to move evenly, especially while in the car. Also I have a hard time telling which position the handle was in, so it made me worried that it wasn't in the correct position for carrying and car travel, so that want cool. The actual crotch buckle was annoying. I have no idea why this buckle design was used and it was definitely not as easy as the normal buckles most seats have. The visor wasn't super strong feeling and didn't have great coverage. Getting to the button to loosen the straps was awkward and stiff. You have to remove the seat cover a little to get to the baseless seat belt path. Overall just not great! My baby was comfortable enough even though it isn't very padded, and he was safe enough. I do not care for the lack of padding though. It seemed almost too basic, especially when for an infant anywhere from newborn - 5 months when they don't have full control of their head. I prefer a little more head support and body support that can be removed as the infant grows out of needing that. I am happy that it has passed safety ratings but it did not give me very much peace of mind just based off of looks. The installation was fairly easy and I appreciate the one handed release from the base. It is a little tricky to get used to and requires some strength but it is nice to not have to use both hands if I am holding something else. The lightweight design is nice for getting the car seat in and out and carrying it between the car and house or into a store. That is definitely my favorite feature because they can get to heavy! Installation is quick and easy and has a level line on the side to help make sure you install it correctly. It was easy to pull the straps on the base tight for a secure installation. There are also two plastic hooks on the base to help keep the base strap in place but as I installed it for the very first time I noticed that they were already bending and starting to break. I am not sure how important these two hooks are but seeing them starting to break already does cause me to have concern for the quality of the plastic on the rest of the car seat and whether or not my child would be safe. To help the car seat be secure in the base it also has a part that hooks over the the car seat near the strap. It is nice to have an added safety feature but to get the car seat in and out I felt as though I had to tilt the car seat forward a lot to be able to get it in and out. Also, I have 4 kids so I am very experienced in placing a car seat in its base and never have any problems but I found this one was difficult to line up properly for it to latch all the way. The handle mechanism is used by pushing down on the handle moving it to the desired position and then the spring pushes it back up to lock it in place. I found that you couldn&rsquo;t easily do this with one hand in the center but instead needed to grab both sides. While it works, there are many scenarios where this would be difficult, such as getting in and out of the car. The only reason this is not a 5-star review is because since the carseat is so lightweight, the plastic does not seem to be as high of quality as the other cars eats I've used. I'd be concerned it would crack or break easily, but I had no problems using it the one week I used it. At closer look, the materials &amp; buckles seem cheap. The push down handle to move feature could be a nice change, but I prefer the button at the top of the handle. Pros: *Very Lightweight *Roomy for larger babies *Easy to wipe clean material *Neutral color Cons: *Not easy to install. I Prefer the buckle system on the base. *Not easy to connect seat to base. The seat had to go under the latch, which is cumbersome with baby already in the seat. *The material on the sides don&rsquo;t go down, they are flapped up. (See photo) *Material &amp; canopy look &amp; feel cheap. *No where to hook straps on the side to put baby in the seat, so the straps get lost under the baby. *The strap release button is really far under the material. Not easy so access. *The main buckle has two plastic pieces that overlap then snap in. (See Photo) Overall this is just an ok car seat. There are some redeeming qualities, like being so light weight, but if I were shopping in a store with other seats to compare side by side, I would not choose it. When the box arrived I was thrilled at how light weight it was, I couldn&rsquo;t believe there was a car seat in there! I have a flight coming up so I was beyond excited to have a light weight seat to haul through the airport. The seat and the base are both very light weight, and initial set up was fairly straight forward. I was able to easily adjust the shoulder straps before even glancing at the instructions. To loosen them however, was just a little tricky. The lever to release them is located under the fabric of the seat and it would be hard to find if you didn&rsquo;t know what you were looking for. I had to read the instructions to figure out how to move the main carrying handle. You have to press down while moving it forwards or backwards. Once I figured it out it was no big deal, and convenient to be able to do with only one hand, verses other models that require you to press buttons on each side at the same time. There is a very light weight removable sun shade that clicks into the seat as well. The base clips in to the standard car seat hooks in the vehicle, and the car seat can be used clicked in to there or else secured with a seatbelt without the base. After we used the base for one day we were not impressed. It took two of us to get it clicked in the first time, and 2 of us to get it out. I felt like it should snap in and out with ease but it just did not. It definitely felt like a &ldquo;value&rdquo; seat once we got to that point. The comfort of the seat was fine, nothing special. Overall the car seat is just OK&hellip; I wouldn&rsquo;t recommend it solely on the fact that the base is so difficult to click the seat in to. I like the light weight but unfortunately I think the hassle will prevent me from using it in the car again. So we take a daily trip to daycare and need reliable, safe and light-weight car seats to haul these boys back and forth. My first thought when I got the car seat - &ldquo;Oh my gosh - that weighs nothing!&rdquo; Literally when I first received the car seat on my doorstep, I bent down and prepared to bear a lot of weight and was shocked by how easy it was to carry. If there is something that I didn&rsquo;t realize was so important the first time I purchased a car seat, is that being lightweight makes THE WORLD of a difference. Seriously, first time moms, take notes. Because when you are lugging baby in the car seat, and carrying a diaper bag, a stroller, and another child - you need the thing to be as light as possible. Onto the design, very crisp and simple. Fabric seems like it will be easy to clean, which is crucial for those dreaded poop-splosions! Now for safety (let&rsquo;s be real, the most important criteria for any parent), the buckles adjust smoothly to your baby&rsquo;s body and they click nice/firmly in place. The bottom tab was easy enough to adjust as I was fitting for my little guy. It sat in securely in the base and didn&rsquo;t leave me with the question, &ldquo;is it on right?&rdquo; Admittedly, I am not the most handy/best at falling user manual instructions, but the provided material was very straight-forward and to the point. Also, I really like the breathable &ldquo;sunroof cover&rdquo; was on the car seat. There is nothing worse than having to pull off into a neighborhood to find out that your poor LO was screaming because the sun was blaring in their eyes. Overall, I would recommend! Some areas seemed liked the skimped a little on the quality, but not areas that make me concerned about the safety. I really struggle to carry anything too heavy, and our previous car seat (different brand that paired with our stroller) was way too heavy. I couldn&rsquo;t carry him any longer. I was given the opportunity to try this one thanks to the Stellar Testing Panel, and it is CRAZY light. I love it. It is so much easier to carry and to get out of the car. I know that all car seats have to pass the same safety tests and standards, so even though this is a light weight car seat, I know that it is safe. The materials and design are nice and modern looking. The install was easy too. My husband was able to install the base in just a couple minutes, and the infant seat clicks right in and out easily. I docked one star only because I have seen other car seats with more comfortable features. My little one doesn&rsquo;t seem uncomfortable at all, and he is totally happy in his new seat; however, some other infant car seats do have more cushion and body/head support. That may be something to be aware of if your kiddo is sensitive or needs extra support. Overall, this is an excellent car seat for long term use. What it contains is what is necessary in a car seat. Lightweight and easy to use. I really liked the anti-rebound base in the car seat because it gave that extra bit of support without having to add a towel underneath like bases from other brands. The car seat was so easy to install because the base has the lower anchor connectors which basically did exactly that, anchored easily to the car. It was easy to remove the car seat from the base with the &ldquo;release handle&rdquo; found on the back of the car seat which is mentioned in the owners manual. My favorite feature of this car seat was also my least favorite. The carrier handle is moved by pushing down and rotating the handle into its desired position. I felt the feature to be very nifty but it would easily get jammed when I was using it therefore did not like the feature in the long run. I do have to point out that I did not like how difficult it was to unlatch the chest buckle or how time consuming it was to assemble the buckle release. Having used many other brands this was a disappointment. The car seat itself had basically no padding except for foam pad. My first impression of the Evenflo Nurturemax infant car seat was that it was cheaply made. Although I did like that it was very lightweight. I felt the actual car seat itself could have been a little less bulky and the fabric itself could have been a bit more comfortable. As far as the handlebar goes it has to be pushed down to adjust to three positions. I have to admit it was a little hard to push down and have the bar move to the desired position. Preferably I prefer the buttons on either side that you see on most infant car seats, just seems easier than having to push down on the handlebar. My little girl did not seem like she was comfortable in it at all. She is only two months old and neck and head support are a big thing when it comes to car seats for me. The padding for her head area was very thin and there was no extra neck support that comes in handy for the first few months of your little one's life. If you are in the market for a lightweight infant car seat I would recommend you look into other Evenflo infant car seats I have owned other Evenflo products before and this just did not meet the standards and quality that I know Evenflo is capable of. Even though I was not a big fan of this car seat There are a few pros. I love everything about the anti-rebound base and how simple it was to install in your vehicle. I love that you can use it with or without the base. Makes it much easier getting in and out of the car, which is a plus if you have multiple vehicles you don&rsquo;t have to worry about transferring the base. Overall I would give this car seat a five out of ten. The handle wiggles slightly when in the upright locked position. The canopy is very lightweight which makes it a bit cheap feeling and it doesn't extend very far. The carseat needs to be placed into the base at, just the right, forward leaning angle in order to click in, once fingured out it is fairly easy to connect and disconnect from the base. The base can be left secured in the car for convenience and was easy to install with the latch system. Overall, even with the safety features this carseat advertises, it is a basic carseat as it doesn't come with any extra infant head supports and feels less quality than carseats I have previously used.
