For the price, I think it is a really good consideration. Pros: It is lightweight and slim for carrying around, has above standard safety measures, and is a great price point. Cons: Padding is really thin and buckles are made completely of plastic. Overall, for the price- I think this is a good choice. But if you can afford the one step up, I prefer the Evenflo SafetyMax car seat because it&rsquo;s not too pricey, is still lightweight, but has much better padding. I attached a picture so you can see difference. The Evenflo SafetyMax is on the left and the Evenflo NurtureMax is on the right. My favorite feature of this carseat is the easy-release handle, I love that it only requires one hand to lower the handle! I also appreciate the slots to adjust the waist buckles, as my babies have been too small for the buckles of some carseats. The front-pull tightening strap is a great feature as well. The carseat is lightweight and easy to carry, and it looks nice with a subdued pattern on it. It's important that the carseat also can be installed by seatbelt as well to travel in someone else's car without the base. Unfortunately it took some practice to attach the carseat to the base. It requires some precision to get in place correctly, which can be difficult when trying to maneuver a baby-filled carseat. If not placed just right into the base then it requires a bit of force to get the buttons to click in place. I understand the design is necessary to make it an anti-rebound base however, but the issue lowered my confidence in its safety. The sharp edges of the plastic made the seat feel less quality. I loved the sleek look of the canopy and thought the design of the handle was useful and very thoughtful. You just push down on the handle and then rotate it into the position, making it one-handed which is so helpful when you have two small children. Setup was simple and the base was easy to install, although I didn&rsquo;t like how there was only a horizontal line that you are supposed to make parallel with the ground for correct installation. Other car seats have a color coded bubble indicator which I like better. The anti-rebound base did make it feel very snug and very safe. My son didn&rsquo;t seem to like the seat very much for two reasons: 1. the center belt with the button is very short and it pushes down on his crotch when buckled, and 2. the shoulder straps are too close together causing them to pinch his neck when tightened. I think with a longer crotch belt, more space in between the upper straps for the neck and shoulders, and adding small pads to the straps this car seat would feel much more comfortable to a baby. The anti-rebound base safety feature is also attractive as it would absorb forces if we were to get in an accident. I find comfort in knowing that the car seat was tested at 2X the federal crash test standard. I appreciate the products structural integrity. It was easy to adjust the seat&rsquo;s straps according to my child&rsquo;s height. Most infant carriers have a maximum height of 30 inches, but this car seat maxes out at 29. I prefer to keep my kids in an infant carrier for as long as possible so, this was a downfall. The &ldquo;Push &amp; Go Handle&rdquo; is a great in theory however, it was not smooth so it almost always woke my sleeping baby and often required two hands to operate. My favorite feature is that the car seat itself was extremely lightweight and easy to carry. The base was more of a stressor than a convenience. It was not helpful in anyway. I was so frustrated trying to insure a secure connection between the car seat and the base that I opted out of using the base and placed the car seat directly into our vehicle. Generally, I prefer to use a base but not in this circumstance. The base itself was easy to install in our suv using a simple latch system. Also, if you have an older vehicle and choose to use the lap/shoulder belt there is a handy spot to secure your unused latch straps! I loved this feature and attached a picture of how/where they can be tucked in. This company claims that safety is their #1 priority, but this product is actually a safety hazard. I fear that people are using this product and do not have their seat secured properly. Please make sure the car seat is truly locked and firmly secured into the base if you use this product. I found that the harness straps were much more difficult to buckle and tighten/loosen, this too could be a safety hazard in an emergency situation. My child did not appear as comfortable in this seat as there was little to no padding and no strap guard near his neck. This caused him to get red lines on his skin. He was more fussy in this seat than any other car seat we have used. I attached a photo of the canopy that is removable, but does not secure to the car seat well. When the wind blew the canopy flapped up and exposed my baby inside. It was near impossible to attach and detach the car seat to the base. The only way we were able to get a proper connection was by standing in the car seat, on the base, in our living room. We were so excited when we finally got it secured. Shortly after, we found out that the seat was stuck. I had my husband stand on the base while I struggled to detach the car seat and base. My husband and I referred to the manual multiple times thinking that we must be missing something. It turns out that this product simply missed the mark. It was a struggle and took two adults to make it function properly. I am extremely disappointed and would never recommend this product to anyone! My first initial thought upon removing the car seat from the box was that it was indeed much lighter than most standard car seats. We were gifted a different lightweight car seat so we had something to compare to and this was slightly lighter than the one we currently use. The base was also significantly lighter than most that we&rsquo;ve used, which I wasn&rsquo;t too fond of because I didn&rsquo;t feel like I was able to install it as tightly as our other base. However, it was very easy and simple to install in the car. The lining of the car seat was firmer than other car seats and did not include a smaller and softer insert for newborns. My baby is already 6 months old and over 18 lbs with great head control so he&rsquo;s definitely not newborn size anymore but even in this car seat, his head would move very easily from side to side. My favorite feature of the car seat is the carry handle. I had to look in the manual on how to move it from the carry position to the back but I do like that you just push it in rather than having to push two buttons on each side like most other car seat handles. The anti-rebound base is safety feature that most other car seat bases do not have but it did make it more difficult to put the car seat into the base. My baby loves the car and being in his car seat so he did not mind a few extra seconds of maneuvering but a finnicky baby would probably not like that. The lap belt function to be able to use the car seat without the base is always a nice feature but you do have to remove the fabric covering over it to be able to access the slots. Not a big deal but a small extra step to have to do. Overall the car seat is easy to carry but because it doesn&rsquo;t have an insert to support excessive head movement, I wouldn&rsquo;t use it as my primary car seat. It is extremely light weight even with the base. It can be installed both with and without the base. The ability to install without the base using the seatbelt makes it easy to carry on a plane or take in a taxi or ride share. My favorite feature is that the carrying handle can be moved into a different position with just one hand. The car seat has minimal padding which makes it light weight but also not the most luxurious feel. The button to loosen the straps is located under the seat fabric which makes it hard to find the first few times. One aspect that I found difficult was putting the seat into the base. It doesn&rsquo;t just click into the base like other seats but instead must be tilted forward with the front rim of the seat being placed under a clip. Overall a good car seat for travel or a second caregiver to use. It is lightweight, and simple design. The shoulder straps release really easy, and has a good length to them. It doesn't have much padding to support the babies head. I'm not a fan of how stiff the handle is either. It seems to get stuck in one position, which would make it hard to get in and out of the car. Overall, it's not a carseat I would feel comfortable putting my newborn baby in. If you're looking for a lightweight budget friendly seat that is used for a stroller, I would recommend this. Our son is 5 months old and almost at the weight limit so we only got to use it for about a month, but it's so affordable that it was worth the convenience. My parents were able to take him for a weekend without the base since you can use the seat without it, but we were also able to easily transfer him in and out of our two cars since we got two bases to work with. Everything seems super secure and comfortable and although our little one doesn't love the car, he is perfectly happy in the carrier when we have him in a store or restaurant. The seat is very lightweight, as a twin mom, this was one of my favorite features, as I&rsquo;m already lugging around twice the weight. The design of the car seat is just as you would expect from any other infant car seat. However, the base of this one has an added saftey feature that I really liked. The car seat base has a little hook at the back that you latch over the end of the car seat to help hold it in place. You have to tip the seat forward to place and remove the seat from the base however once use to the motion don't mind it and find that it helps with peace of mind and an added saftey feature. One of my other favorite features of this car seat is that it's made to be used with OR without a base! That means if for whatever reason I need to Uber, or take a taxi, or need to hop in a friend's vehicle for a quick ride to the store no more struggling with moving and buckling in a base! You just unhook the padded seat part away from where the seat belt will run and you secure it saftey between the marked areas. Super fast, easy, and safe! If you did want to use the base that it comes with, honestly I was surprised at how quick it was. I was able to snap it in place, and synch it down tightly all within less than five minutes. Carrying the seat with my son in it, normally is a huge struggle because he is only getting heavier and heavier, but I did notice a big difference in how lightweight this car seat was compared to others we have used in the past. I do like that for moving the carrying handle to different positions you can do so with one hand (you just press it down to unlock it and move it to where you want until it re-locks). My only complaint really is I do not care for the fact that the back of the carrying handle has a deep grid like pattern instead of being solid plastic like the front. It's something I'm not use to and because of that I keep stubbing my fingers in the holes. The description sounds wonderful&mdash;lightweight, ergonomic, easy to carry, can be used without a base&mdash;but the actual car seat is subpar at best. I would not trust this to be a primary car seat as it is seems very flimsy and poorly constructed. Yes, it is lightweight, but at what cost? My child was a little under 7 pounds at birth&mdash;well above the lowest allowable weight for the seat&mdash;but there&rsquo;s no way I would have felt comfortable bringing him home in it or driving any further than about five minutes away because of how little padding there is. I&rsquo;ll pay a little more for something that makes my baby more comfortable in the long run rather than compromising his safety, which is what a lot of people would do by adding after market infant inserts/shoulder pads/head rests just to make this seat padded enough to be comfortable. In addition, the seat just looks and feels cheap to me. The one good thing I can say about the product is that it is gender neutral so it would work for boys or girls. This was helpful because as a first time mom I didn't previously have a lot of car seat knowledge! The most standout feature of the Evenflo NurtureMax is its weight. I thought my other car seat was lightweight, but this car seat is notably lighter, weighing in at under 6lbs. The base is also super light, though that didn't matter as much to me. The downside to the lightweight construction is that the plastic feels a bit cheap and flimsy, which is not something I want in a product intended for keeping a baby safe. I also don't love the design of the car seat lining, though I have noticed unattractive design seems to be an industry wide issue. Finding a new seat that was affordable, high quality and attractive was extremely challenging to me. The seat itself is no-nonsense and seemed a bit hard compared to my other car seat (which has a newborn insert pillow) so I added a cushy liner and shoulder pads to make it more comfortable for my baby. The ergonomic carrying handle is kind of cool, but it was tricky at first to figure out how to push it in to move it - not the most intuitive function, but not bad. The harness buckle is likewise not super intuitive, and as a mom to a baby who decidedly hates being buckled into her seat, this was a bit frustrating. It's easy enough once you figure it out though. As far as ease of use in the car goes, the base was SUPER easy to install - very straightforward and quick to secure using the anchors. I love that it is an anti-rebound base, as this is not a standard safety feature, but it does make me feel safer using an infant car seat. But for the life of me I could not get the car seat to actually click into the base, and so that's definitely a deal breaker for me. If the base isn't simple to click in and out it's not for me, because crying babies do not wait around for finicky seats to be fiddled around with. The belt attachment method works fine, but it's a bit annoying too because you have to move the fabric lining off the sides to access the belt path, and this method does not feel as secure as using the base. My overall opinion is that the pros of this seat don't outweigh the cons for car use, so I'm going to use it as a backup (and for stroller rides) rather than my primary car seat. If the weight is your main concern, and you can figure out how to make the base work for you better than I could, this seat might be a good fit. It took me a few tries to figure out how to properly connect the car seat to the base and I was scared that I would break it along the way. It&rsquo;s very inconvenient to have to tilt the whole seat forward to get it under the latch then lean it back to click in. Cleaning this car seat is a cinch, and wiping up messes on the fabric is quick and painless. The canopy has a lush feeling about it. A look you would expect in a more expensive car seat. Cons The fact that it is lightweight, however, leads it to feel cheap. The fabric feels plastic-y. There is no infant insert, so if you have a tiny one coming home from the hospital, this may feel too big and low on support. A supposedly &ldquo;redeeming quality&rdquo; on this car seat is the one handed adjustable handle, but adjusting it is awkward. It almost makes you feel like you&rsquo;re doing something wrong because of the clunky adjustment. While installing the base may be easy, getting the car seat in and out of the base is not as smooth.
