This one however is pretty amazing. My twins left the hospital weighing 4lbs each and this seat adjusted down to fit them amazingly. It doesn't need all the bells and whistles and extra paddings when the straps adjust perfectly. It is super light weight made it great to carry both. It's cool in the summer heat. My only complaint is the crotch buckle. It's really hard to hold the pieces together and snap them between tiny legs. I prefer the separate ones not the ones that hold together then snap in. The seat is very simple to set up! The base can hook into the car in minutes and probably even seconds with more use! Attaching the carseat was not as intuitive as I would have hoped for but still easy once you learn to use it. The carseat does lack a head stabilizing component which I don&rsquo;t love, but it does allow my son to look around more to see outside, which he loves! The seat itself is more lightweight than other seats we have used which is better for handling him by myself on quick day trips. We do have 2 bases for this seat which makes family outings easy, as we are not shuffling around the bases based on which vehicle we are taking. As this is an economical friendly seat, it fully met my expectations! This seat is a great choice for a spare because it is easy to install, easy to carry baby around in, and versatile in how it can be secured into the car. My three-week-old seems to feel very comfortable in this seat. He falls asleep right away when we start driving him anywhere in it. The straps adjust easily, but they don&rsquo;t seem prone to twisting around like some car seats. He seems both secure and cozy in this one. The seat is very lightweight, and I found it pretty easy to install. It feels very secure when it&rsquo;s strapped in either with the seatbelt and no base, or with the base attached to the car. I find that I have a little trouble nesting the seat into the base, and I have to check to be sure it&rsquo;s snug. However, it is very easy to tell if it isn&rsquo;t nested correctly and&mdash;once it&rsquo;s in place&mdash; it is obviously quite securely attached. The seat really is light, so I&rsquo;m sure it would be easy to carry a baby around in it. I tend to baby-wear, so I don&rsquo;t have a lot of need for carrying a baby in a car seat. For those who do, this would likely be an especially good seat to own. I will say that this carseat doesn&rsquo;t have a lot of bells and whistles. There isn&rsquo;t an extra cushion for the back of the head, although there is an adjustable shade that can go over the seat, like most car seats. It might be that, for a primary car seat, you may want to go for something a little fancier. But, all in all, this is a safe, simple, solid car seat that would be perfect for a spare seat. When I first took the carseat out of the box and unwrapped it, I was worried that the quality might be lacking because it felt really light compared to the car seat I had previously been using, but overall it is holding up well and seems quite sturdy. I was pleasantly surprised with how easy it was to get the car seat put together, and how easy it was to install in my van. Although I am really happy about the safety feature of the anti rebound base, it usually takes me several tries to get the car seat locked in correctly, and it has been difficult to get the car seat out unless I push down on the base while I also push the release and pull out the seat. The car seat is also longer/bigger than the previous car seat I used, causing me to have to lean the driver seat forward each time I put the seat in or take it out. One of my favorite features on the car seat is the handle, because all you need is to push down on it in with one hand in order to get it to move, rather than having to push a button on each side. My baby is still fairly small, not quite 12 pounds yet, and I do miss the infant insert that a lot of cat seats come with to help better position the baby, as the car seat seems a little big and provides less head support when he falls asleep. It weighs very little, and is easy to carry. I really like the water and stain resistant material, makes for easy clean up when the baby has an accident. I also like that the seat is a bit wider than other models. Baby still feels secure, but can move their arms and legs with some space. This has been helpful in the cold winter months when I put a blanket over the baby, there is extra space on the sides to tuck it in nice and snug. It is a little tight lengthwise because the back handle sticks out a bit. This can make it tricky to get in and out of the car (I have a small SUV and it was tight). In general, it is tricky to latch in and out of the base. You have to lean the seat forward to click into the front and my baby does not like that extra movement. The major thing that I disliked about this car seat was the latch. It is very tricky to click together. You have to hold both parts of the harness together before clicking it in, and with a squirmy baby this makes it very difficult. Also, the handle doesn&rsquo;t always click into place easily, when picking up the car seat it can shift if it wasn&rsquo;t properly clicked. I have been carrying the car seat and have had the handle shift, which does not feel safe. My favorite feature of this car seat would be how light weight it is and easy to carry, making it an excellent product for travel by plane. Installation of this car seat without base is convenient if you need it in two cars yet only have 1 base, an excellent feature for parents that share duties of taking care of their littles from the early stages. However, the vehicle seat belt goes over the child&rsquo;s legs (the space above the legs) meaning you can&rsquo;t remove the child out of the car seat without removing the vehicle seat belt. I didn&rsquo;t like that it didn&rsquo;t come with shoulder pads, thin ones for a newborn make it more comfy for them. The shade canopy comes detached but it is easy to attach and provides good shade. The adjuster strap is easy to pull to adjust the harness straps. The harness strap clips need to be connected first then pushed into the buckle together. The carrier handle has 3 position options. I think the buttons that you need to push to get the car seat out of the base aren&rsquo;t that easy to push, making it difficult to push on both sides while pulling the car seat up. I have attached a picture showing what the buttons look like, sadly the video can&rsquo;t be uploaded to show I had some difficulties pushing both sides in and getting the car seat out of the base. It's bare bones with absolutely no frills or any extras. Normally, that wouldn't bother me as I tend to prefer simpler baby options, but this one was just way too basic for me. The pattern is gender neutral but also looks like old restaurant carpeting. The seat didn't come with any newborn inserts and seems like it would be very uncomfortable to sit in for any extended period of time. The seat comes with an anti rebound base, which I like, however the seat itself just doesn't feel substantial enough to ease my safety concerns. You are able to use the seat without the base but I wouldn't feel comfortable doing so. We live in a suburban area and that might be more convenient for city dwellers. The handle to carry the seat has to be pushed to manually until it clicks in to place, our other seats handle glides back. If all of that doesn't bother you, the seat does have a few redeeming qualities. For starters, it is very lightweight. You could carry your baby from the car to the front door without feeling like your arm is going to break from the strain of it. Since I have a toddler, a diaper bag, and usually an arm full of dinosaur toys, the lightweight aspect was much appreciated and made transports to and from the car much easier. This seat would work better for smaller babies: for reference my son at six months is approximately 18 lbs. and almost 30 in. long. While the car seat is made affordable, I think you get what you pay for and I feel like a more expensive car seat would provide better affordability because you would be able to use the car seat longer as well as providing more comfortable fabric and material for the baby to sit in. I also found it quite difficult to click the car seat in and out of the base. I do like that you are able to use the car seat with or without the base because it makes it easier for travel or a second vehicle. Lastly, I didn&rsquo;t really care for the design or quality of the materials. It felt very flimsy and again, my son did not like the feel of it. The canopy does not come down far enough to cover enough sunlight and the handle on the car seat doesn&rsquo;t seem very stable. It seemed to get stuck when moving from front to back position. Negatives: If my baby falls asleep, her head flops from side to side when I turn the car because there really isn&rsquo;t enough padding and the seat super wide. This particular problem is easily solved with a rolled up muslin blanket. I wouldn&rsquo;t put her in it for one of our 12 hour car rides because I highly doubt she&rsquo;d be comfortable. Very hard. It is incredibly easy to do the car seat carry where you wrap your arm around the side of the handle and hold onto the seat but where your fingers hold on, it&rsquo;s kind of sharp plastic. Very uncomfortable so I&rsquo;ll likely add some padding there. I do wish the shade came forward a bit more. There are very few contraptions and gizmos all over the seat and the base, and no buttons to speak of except for the belt for the latch system. It is SERIOUSLY light. A bit unnervingly light, and the foam bits in the back don't exude confidence. That said, it has been tested at twice the national standard for car seat safety, including rollover, temperature, and structural integrity testing. Therefore if you can wrap your brain around how something so light can be so safe, this is the car seat for you. I've had multiple infant car seats between my three kids, and this is easily the lightest and easiest to carry around. Shockingly easy. You can tell its weight gives it high marks in my book. I'm someone who likes to leave baby in the carrier and put the whole lot in shopping carts, or bring it with me when I know baby will sleep, so car seats often get a good bit of work as a carrier in my life. Hands down, this is the easiest carrier for actually carrying an infant that I have ever used. It took me some time to understand how to move the handle (push down, since there is no button), but I actually really like that feature -- again, very minimalist in my book. Regarding the installation, it was as easy as any other car seat base on the market, but getting the feel for inserting the car seat into the base took some time. I struggled to get the angle right such that the tabs locked into the base for a couple of days. While very secure, it was unlike my previous experiences. My first impression was how light this car seat was. Initially it felt cheap because the plastic is so lightweight. The hood felt a little flimsy when opening and closing it. There were some loops on the hood that I could not find where they attached despite studying the instructions (see photo). However, as I started using the car seat and based on the good safety ratings, I felt comfortable putting my baby in the seat. The installation was very easy and the base felt secure. Comparing this car seat to the one I primarily use, I really liked how lightweight it is because my baby is getting so heavy! I can see the weight being a real benefit to someone with a heavy baby or someone that is lacking in arm strength. Another bonus is that the handle is easy to adjust positions with only one hand (compared to my primary carseat that needs both hands). Things that I did not like about the car seat: the padding seems very thin. I would not want to leave my baby in this seat for a long car ride as it doesn&rsquo;t seem comfortable. Also, my son is almost 7 months and likes to sit more upright to look around and he did not seem comfortable with the more reclined position of this seat. The print on the seat cover seems a little masculine/aggressive for a baby. One other important consideration is the height limit- my son is tall for his age at almost 28&rdquo; long and the height limit of the car seat is 29&rdquo;. I&rsquo;m not sure how much longer we will be able to use this unfortunately (compared to our other car seat which has a height limit to 32&rdquo;) I think this makes a great car seat for someone that is on a tight budget and doesn&rsquo;t want to compromise on safety or someone that needs a secondary basic car seat in addition to the one they already have. We plan to give this car seat to my mother in law for the convenience of not having to transfer our primary carseat over to her car if she wants to take our son out. Second is that the car seat can be used without the base so if you have more than one car or are traveling, no problems. The car seat comes with a canopy that can be taken on and off. Having a lightweight car seat has always been something that I&rsquo;ve wanted since having kids. My most favorite feature about this seat is how lightweight it is! It&rsquo;s made my life easier the last few weeks! I&rsquo;ve had two babies, both over 8 pounds and carrying a car seat with a baby is extremely taxing, especially while recovering from a c-section. I already had a car seat when I received the Evenflo Nurturemax Car seat to test, and there is a substantial difference in weight between my old car seat and this car seat. The Evenflo car seat is extremely lightweight (under 6 pounds), almost 1/3 of what my original seat weighs. The base is also extremely lightweight, which definitely made me worry about it&rsquo;s durability, but after reading about all of the safety standards and the anti-rebound bar, I felt much more comfortable installing it into my car. The car seat was very easy to install, although I think that the level marker could be more visible. I like that this seat can be used baseless, and having multiple family members caring for my children, having this option makes life so much easier! I like the style of this car seat, my 6 month old is 26 inches long, and seems to have a lot of room to stretch out his legs carseat. I like the fabric pattern of the seat that I received and I am glad that it is neutral. One con of the seat is that it does not have much cushioning, and the cushioning sounds scratchy like a windbreaker (not ideal for a sleeping baby). I would also have liked if the car seat had shoulder pads for added comfort. I do like this car seat for the convenience and I will continue to use it for shorter outings, but I definitely will use my original car seat for longer outings because of the added comfort that it offers.
