It could work for both boys or girls. There&rsquo;s not a lot of padding in the car seat though. I felt it could have used a little more to make it more comfortable for the baby. And the hood is difficult to pull up. You definitely need a hand on each side but still sometimes feels like it gets stuck. The seat is very bare-bones and light weight which makes it easy to handle. Other than that it does not have many redeeming qualities. To change configurations with the straps is very time-consuming and not intuitive. The base of the car seat for the car feels cheaply made and does not have an ability to level with most cars. I went ahead and ordered it and once it came it was better than I expected! The lining/padding is very pretty and removable for washing. The car seat also seems pretty light weight and has a deep sun visor (as shown in pictures). I have my 9 month old daughter who is almost 28 inches in the car seat, and her feet are just barely hanging over. This car seat came with a base, which is a lot smaller than I thought it would be, but seems secure as the car seat hooks to the front of the base. To disconnect the car seat however it was hard to unlatch as the lever was almost toward the bottom of the base. The &ldquo;clicking&rdquo; into the base was also very loud, but I&rsquo;m unsure if it&rsquo;ll stay that way when hooked up in the car. It is also a lightweight seat which is a huge plus. The flaws: -adjusting the harness tightness has to be done from the rear of the seat. This can be difficult and leave the harness straps uneven. -changing the harness height was not like other seats. The harness has to be removed from the bottom. This proved to be time consuming and somewhat frustrating. -clicking the seat into the base and removing it almost requires the seat to be upright which would be difficult with a newborn. I used this seat with one of my twins. She is 10 months old, had plenty of room above her head and is pretty average in size. She seemed comfortable. She spit up and the cover was easily wiped clean. The seat is slightly narrow but this didn&rsquo;t seem to affect her comfort. I have the evenflo sibby car seat and the difference in quality is quite apparent. I do like how light this car seat is and very compact so its very east to carry around. But the system to lock it into the base is not very smooth....it doesn't come out every time so it becomes a wrestling match to wiggle it from the base and also to get it in the base it doesn't lock as smoothly as my sibby car seat. Another thing I don't like is not being able to loosen and tighten the shoulder straps easily. On my sibby there is a button on the bottom that allows you to loosen to get the baby in and once its strapped you can tighten around the baby. This one does not seem to have any easy way to do that. You would have to adjust it from the back. If the price point of this car seat is significantly less I would say this will serve it purpose just fine but I still prefer my sibby over this one because of the features and overall the quality of my sibby just feels more substantial and better made. I like that the straps are adjustable, both in the shoulder and crotch area. It took me about 25 minutes to switch them all, some mistakes in the orientation of the straps but overall straight-forward. The canopy is a longer than others I have seen, which is nice because it gives baby more coverage without an extra cover. The base was easy to latch, but latch lacked a leveling indicator and felt significantly less secure than other bases I've used. Pros- Lightweight, nice design, adjustable, easy to install, long canopy, compact Cons- feels less durable than other infant seats, especially the latch system, no leveling indicator, felt less secure than other latch systems, only goes to 22 lbs/28 inches (vs some brands that go up to 30 lbs/30 inches). The design is really cute and I love that it is so lightweight. My children were born via cesarean, so I had lifting restrictions for a while afterwards, but I was permitted to lift this car seat with my baby in it because it was super lightweight and easy for me to carry. I was even able to carry it with one hand while using the other to hold onto my daughter's hand. The handle is nice and comfy to hold. The straps work great and can be tightened and loosened to accommodate your growing baby. It has a nice canopy with a good range of cover. It fits snuggly into the base, which was pretty easy to install. My only issue with this seat is that it is a little flimsy and not quite as durable as others, but I guess that can be expected as it is one of the less expensive models being sold.
