The glass is solid- I have no concerns about it breaking or splintering at the opening. The nipple isn't very wide- I think that is why my son likes them. I've noticed he can control the flow of milk through the nipple and there are times he is sucking but not getting any milk. Again, I think why he likes them. I haven't tried using a different nipple on the bottle but that would be a nice feature. I love these bottles! First of all, because they are glass, they are easy to sterilize, and will hold up well to be used for multiple children. They are very easy to clean because they don't have a bunch of extra parts. They are also nice and compact, sturdy, and comfortable to hold. I wanted my son to love these as much as I did, but unfortunately he prefers a wider based nipple that better simulates breastfeeding. My baby does not have any issues with the nipple or gas with this bottle. There are some negatives. It's hard to mix in formula with the small opening (makes a mess!). When heating the formula up in a cup of hot water, the glass gets incredibly hot even when the milk is just barely warm. Then I am freaked out when feeding my baby with her hand trying to hold it. Also, the glass is too heavy for her to hold alone (4 months) and adds more weight to baby bag. I only recommend this bottle because of it's healthier option. He refused to take any other nipple but these at first. He didn't get extra air in him, and with this nipple the vent is on the inside. So you don't have any chance of it accidentally leaking on you like some bottles do. It took some time for him to get used to it, but he did end up liking the bottle and drank until he was satisfied. I prefer glass bottles over plastic, so I am happy my son will tke this one! There seemed to be minimal air bubbles as he was drinking, and he only needed to be burped three times over the course of 4 ounces. I do wish it could hold more milk so I can continue to use it as my son can take more milk. I was able to fit 5 ounces in though without it even being near overflowing. I get really sick of plastic bottles that seem to discolor and crack over time, but these glass bottles look new after several washes already. As far as the baby, they love the bottle, when we can't breastfeed for any given reason, the baby has no issues locking onto the bottle and drinking all the milk, and we have not had any issues with gas with these bottles, something else we look for. Baby doesn't actually take bottles (we don't offer them). However, I still pump so that we have a reserve just in case anything were to happen. I attach these to my Medela pump in style and pump directly into them. No adapter or anything! It works great. Obviously, glass is heavier than plastic. However, that issue is 100% worth it in order to pump and store milk in plastic. I can pump milk and store in the glass container in the fridge and keep adding to it and then divide up and freeze into bags. The only thing that I would improve on this product is having a cap. I have been using caps from the plastic bottles I had received from the hospital. I will update my review if and when we use these for feeding. I tried these glass bottles and he did fantastic! The 4 oz. bottles are perfect for newborns and the slow-flow nipples are great. I love using glass because they are easy to clean and sanitize and will last forever! I truly love them for their sustainability. These can easily be passed on from baby to baby, this at least doubles their value. I also really like the one piece nipple and venting system. It really worked well to keep the air bubbles in the bottle and not going into baby's tummy. And the one piece nipple and ring are SO much easier to clean that other brands with multiple pieces.
