I love these seats, I'm a single mom on a tight budget with two young boys. I purchased them because they were affordable. I always had worries though, they were so light weight would they really do the job? Would they keep the belts in the proper place? Well I found out last week, we were in a pretty severe crash going 50mph. My boys walked away with minor injuries I'm talking a bit tongue, and barely bruising. Our cars whole front end is smashed... I repurchased two new seats while in the ER. My boys will stay in these seats as long as they need to be.

My son is turning 7 next week and he had met the max on his convertible booster. I was going to have to take the back off and only have the booty part. We travel a lot and I wanted him to have the head rest for when he falls asleep. I got to looking and found this car seat. It was an amazing price so I thought even if I didn't like it I wasn't out a lot of money. It comes in a small box and VERY easy to put together. So easy to install in the car. We've only had it for about 2 weeks so I haven't had time to see if there are any complaints. This is our 4th car seat and at this moment would recommend it.

The seatbelt comes unthreaded all the time- I had to rethread it every time my daughter got in the car. One time it came unthreaded while we were driving. Also, and even more unsafe, if my child would lean forward for any reason, the seat somehow prevented the shoulder belt from tightenting back up. Putting your child in this seat is equivalent to putting your child in a car with no seatbelt at all. After a week of trying to figure out how to fix these problems and what we were doing wrong, I realized we weren't doing anything wrong and the problems couldn't be fixed; we switched to a Graco and haven't had any problems at all.

* potential seatbelt retraction issue *
pro: Seat is very comfortable, my older daughter loves it, it gives her ample headroom and she can sleep comfortably on long or late trips. We use it in the 2nd row of our minivan ( it does not fit in the 3rd row in the higher adjustments ). She can buckle it easily herself.
Con: There is a definite potential safety issue here in certain minivans. I believe it is caused by the combination of my van's seatbelt and the very narrow shoulder beltguide in the carseat. If my daughter leans forward and then goes back to the correct position the seatbelt does not always retract. The same thing can happen when I buckle her in, sometimes I have to pull up a few times to make the seatbelt retract fully. She has learned to tighten it herself but she may not always notice. Just one more thing to think about on a crazy morning... moms with multiple children may have a hard time with it...
I have a fairly new Dodge but have heard of this occuring in the Chrysler van as well. I have trouble rating this seat, without the retraction issue I would give it 5 stars... I also have trouble recommending it to other moms who drive minivans but would highly recommend it for use in other vehicles
On a sidenote, the styrofoam has not broken like others have stated and we have had the seat for 6 months. It did 2x on my daughter's expensive britax boulevard carseat though and that had excellent ratings. Customer service suggested taping the replacement foam they sent with duct tape for reinforcement before reattaching to carseat. No joke. It was completely ridiculous but it worked...

I bought this Booster for my (at the time) 6 year old daughter. She loves the black and pink combo, the cup holders, and the comfy seat. I love the height adjustment feature and the ability to make it backless when she is ready for that style. Great seat!

Disappointed in specifications
I bought this because according to label on box my grandson met the weight and height requirements. Nothing was said about age. When taken out of box and reading the booklet that is to be kept with the seat. Specifications stated that all requirements was to be met. My grandson is a tall child and met the height and weight but is only 2 years and the book stated that they must be at least 4 years. 1. The age requirement should be on the box label. 2. If a child meets the weight & height at the age of 2, I seriously doubt this seat will work for him at the age 4 or older.

Works terrible with seatbelt
bought 2 of these for my daughters ages 6 and 4 and the opening grid for the shoulder belt is terrible! You have to use the seat belt like dental floss and do a back and fourth motion just to get it into the grid, but what's even more frustrating is trying to move the booster seat and UNHOOK the seat belt…… it is pretty much impossible to get the shoulder portion of the seat belt out of it's grove - and the opening is so small that once the kids buckle themselves in the grove holds the belt so tight that it can't roll back and hold kids tightly in place… they are left with a stuck seat belt, with way to much slack going from their shoulder to their hip. The only positive, was when we could take the terrible back off for my 6 year old and use just the booster and not have to deal with it.

Major Potential Safety Issue!
I purchased 2 of these seats about 1 month ago for my child who will be 5 in a bit more than 2 months. The seatbelt guide is a great idea, but should the shoulder belt shift to the side of the guide or get stuck between the tabs, the belt then sticks and cannot retract back leaving a child with a pile of seatbelt in their lap. Not helpful. This has only occurred a couple of times, but a couple times too many in my book. Especially if this should happen with a hard brake or a car crash. Called Evenflo and was told that my child needs to remain still in the seat and not move. I know that, and my child knows that, but clearly the woman on the phone does not have a 4 year old. They will move in the seat whether they are reaching for something on the seat next to them or trying to look out the window at something that has caught their eye. Then the woman on the phone recommended that I activate the locking mechanism on the seatbelt and then the child will not be able to move. That just didn't seem right to me, so I reviewed my VW manual which specifically states that the locking mechanism of the belt should NEVER be used to hold a child into a booster seat. I called VW to confirm that I was understanding that correctly and she concurred that the locking mechanism of the belt would cause severe injury to a child during a hard brake or crash. The seatbelt is designed to provide some give in these incidences to absorb some of the energy from impact. I was hoping to provide this information with the intent to alert the company about this potentially dangerous issue, so that it could be looked at more closely and am disappointed that my feedback didn't seem to be well received.
