They can be used as a game or as miniature figures (not suitable for children under the age of three). My kids adore Super Mario, and we bought quite a few of the new toys that came out with the game. The characters are adorable, and my kids enjoy playing with them; however, they are uninterested in the balancing game. They all stand well and can be balanced on the stand with a little fiddling. The combination of two good guys and two bad guys works well to create the traditional Mario saves Peach setup. In our house, they will be used simply as familiar figurines in addition to other toys.
