Amazing price. Other gates go for 3x as much. 2. Wider than most other gates. Other gates typically go only up to 60&quot; wide. 3. Nice look and color feels nice as well 4. Smooth operation. Yes, these can be closed with one hand. Watch the youtube video to confirm that you are doing it right. It's like a seatbelt, if you stop mid-operation it locks on you so you have to start over. 5. As with all gates, must be installed properly in order to work correctly. Our baseboards are very thick so the spacers provided were a bit small but we made them work 6. Child tested and this mother approved. We have a very active toddler. This stood up to her test. CONS : My 2 year old ripped this out of the wall in the first 10 minutes by grabbing the top of the mesh and trying to climb over. The recoil of the retractable gate smacked my child in the face, It&rsquo;s a bit tricky to figure out how to get it to work At first ! MY OPINION Great product for little ones! Works well for our 72 inch hallway. You have to read directions. For it to go that far you must twist the knob, let go of the button then pull the gate all the way to the closed position. You do NOT have to hold the knob and pull at the same time... Twist the knob, let go and then pull all the way to close. We hated the look of the big metal or even wooden gates we had with our older son. We wanted something more discreet that could be &ldquo;tucked away&rdquo; yet be permanent. This was the perfect solution I didn&rsquo;t even know existed. Installation was fairly simple. It comes with a template to trace the holes for foolproof drilling. That was something my husband liked! So far it is very sturdy and has held up to my 7 month old, 5 year old, a year old dog. Once up, it&rsquo;s pretty easy to figure it out although it did take a few tries. It&rsquo;s not the most quiet when the gate retracts. There was one time I didn&rsquo;t grip tightly enough while retracting and it flew out of my hand, hit the wall, and woke up the baby. Watch out for that. The only real downsides are: 1. They sell spacers separately. If you have thick baseboards, make sure to buy the spacers when you buy the gate. 2. It&rsquo;s black and sticks out against my light walls. And of great quality but what if it falls at a let go of the gate. However it turned out to be very sturdy and reliable to keeping the kids OUT ! It took longer than expected to build and get together but the labor was worth it in the end. The black one I received I really loved it gives like a total shut off- off limits warning sign. Howevet I wouldve definitely bought for the other rooms if the price itself would be in my mommy budget, but totally recommending to all mommies (specially us new ones who have anxiety about everything!) We have a gate installed at the top of our stairs that is a wooden gate that either needs to be shut or can be left open but it swings out into the hallway a few feet and has two metal pieces that stick out of the side when left open that are a definite hazard for a running toddler, so it basically always has to be closed. When you have other family or friends over, or just at night after the littles are in bed, sometimes you don't want people to have to navigate over or around your baby gates so this one is a nice compromise! This is by far one of my favorite. I really like the mesh design compared to the slates with other gates. ( My toddler likes to try and stick his legs through those) The retractable design is fantastic, though it is not as easy to retract as I would have liked it to be. This may just get better with practice. With gates everywhere being able to &quot;hide&quot; the gate when not in use is great. It was much easier to install than some of my other gates that I have used. Before I was offered this free sample I was not aware of this particular product, so I am very happy that I was able to test it. While it does have some nice features, as a mother of three young children, I do NOT recommend it. PROS: Out of the way when not in use (no tripping hazard). About impossible for an older child to mess with and get it open. Very sturdy as it is screwed to the wall (then again... this is also not so great. See cons). Easily adapts to any length up to what is specified. The gate material is soft but durable. CONS: It needs to be screwed to the wall (this is good depending on how you look at it. See pros). This does make for a very sturdy gate, which is definitely important. But we had to drill into our beautiful millwork on our stairs, so that was sad. Our other baby gate is a tension gate, which seems to be sturdy as well and didn't require any drilling. Now for the absolute biggest con of all... and the reason why I would NOT purchase this gate if we needed another. You have to use BOTH hands to open AND close it. GASP. While this does add to the security of the gate... it is a nightmare considering I am almost always either holding my four month old or a laundry basket or SOMEthing and this requires me to put whatever it is I'm holding down. As I mentioned I have three young children. Here's a scenario for you: if said four month old is crying, and I'm needing to go up the stairs to put him down for a nap (this baby gate is at the bottom of the stairs), but want to keep my other two from following me, I need to put said crying baby down, who is now screaming because he had to be put down, just to open this gate. If I'm coming downstairs and holding something and forgot that the gate is closed, I have to trot back up the stairs to put whatever it is down just so I can open this gate.
