Base is nice and sturdy for standing.
The convertable function was not what we were expecting. The connecting point is very bulky and not easily workable, kids are constantly bringing the dollnto me to push the tail back up into the dress position and wrap the skirt, as the waist arms stick, which also makes for a clumsy looking skirt waist.
The tail launch is a bit jarring and we've had several tears and pinched fingers.</span>

The transformation is really easy to do. Just push the button on Ariel's necklace, and her dress will open up to reveal her mermaid tail. The tail is made of a soft, flowing fabric, and it looks just like the one in the movie.
We also love that Ariel is poseable. We can have her stand, sit, or swim in any position we want. And her long, flowing hair can be styled in different ways.</span>

The transformation from doll to mermaid is fun and innovative - and easy enough to for small fingers to change back to doll when done "swimming" her around the house. The full closure of the skirt is a little complicated for small ones to wrap their heads around, but nothing that can't be worked around. The doll has created hours of fun for my little one - we change from mermaid to "human" and back many times during play. We also love the detail in her hair - the minibraids combined with the normal flowing doll hair is so much fun (though we did have to learn how to brush more carefully!).</span>

When she is a mermaid, the tail is so fancy. The tail practically sparkles. The first time we pushed the button to make the tail pop out kind of startled us a bit, it flips fast! I was afraid of pinched fingers when moving the mechanism of the tail, but there is no way to pinch them...it's totally safe for little fingers. I think the favorite part was the fact that you get a two modes of play...land and sea, it's very unique. It's also really easy to switch modes of play, even for little kids.</span>

Her favorite part was being able to turn Ariel from human into a mermaid. You push on the necklace and the dress opens to become a mermaid tail. The doll is so pretty, and attention to detail, painting is beautiful.</span>

<span itemprop="description">[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Transforming Ariel doll is so fun! The neatest feature of the doll is the fin that you attached to the back of the mermaid tail. When it is locked into position at the back of her hips, you can fold the fins around the doll to look like it is a human wearing a dress. There are no legs, so this hides her tail. There is a button on her necklace that springs the “dress” downward into a beautiful mermaid fin. The doll is really beautiful with details to look similar to Halle Bailey in the new Little Mermaid movie. I feel like a kid again. It’s been fun to see my kids playing with this doll! It will be a favorite for kids who love the new movie!</span>

My daughter was pretty disappointed by her not having any feet when she transforms. It's definitely not what what were expecting. The day after we received it sand or something must have gotten in the shell button because she is now stuck in mermaid mode.</span>

<span itemprop="description">[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The details in this dolls hair are spot on! I love that someone took the time to make the adjustments to the doll’s hair to reflect that it is a little curly and not the same as the original Ariel’s. The functionality of the tail to change from a tail to her dress bottom is a great way to not loose things. We have not tried her in water but would love to be able to take her to the beach and pool. This is a well thought out design. It’s functionality is great. However the attention to details to reflect the new little mermaid’s distinct characteristics is heartwarming and wonderful to see. Explaining to my daughter why the doll is not the same as the original was a little confusing for her at first but she loved the idea that all girls should have a doll that has characteristics of all girls-and we are all unique and special and equally wonderfully made. Thank you</span>
